We are delighted to announce that Prime has been successful in securing a place on the Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure Framework managed by NHS Shared Business Services. Following a successful Bid process, Prime was awarded a place on the DBF (design, build, and fund) lot with Willmott Dixon and the DBFO (design, build, fund, and operate) lot as a supply partner to Q-Park UK. The framework, which runs until November 2027, is designed to support the NHS in lowering its carbon output and achieving its 2040 carbon net zero emissions ambition. The procurement framework agreement provides the NHS with a one-stop solution for all car parking needs, a simple way to find and appoint the services of fully vetted providers quickly and compliantly. Not only did we secure a place on the framework, but we did so with full marks in evaluation! #carparks #sustainability #carbonnetzero

We've joined Northern leaders in calling on Government to continue with its current plans for HS2 north of Birmingham and to support Northern Powerhouse Rail. HS2 Phase 2a and 2b will provide the vital economic backbone to unlock growth, regeneration, and new jobs across Cheshire East and the North – unlocking opportunities and benefits for generations. Investment in the full HS2 western leg to Crewe and Manchester is critical to this: https://lnkd.in/ePStnS3v

There you have it folks, HS2 Cancelled north of Birmingham. Some key takeaways are: - HS2 north of Birmingham cancelled saving £36bn, HS2 trains will continue onward to Manchester on the existing WCML - "Hundreds" of other infrastructure schemes will be funded as "every penny" of the savings will be redeployed to the northern regions, including a new "Network North" rail scheme linking the cities north of Birmingham - HS2 will run from Euston to Birmingham - HS2 Ltd. will no longer be responsible for delivering Euston. Instead a new organisation called "The New Euston Development Zone" will manage it. - Mark Reynolds clearly played a blinder creating an alternative plan for the station that removes complexity and reduces the cost, convincing the PM to continue with its development Overall, if actually carried out, this feels like a logical and sensible change in policy. However we cannot allow these 100s of other schemes to fall to the same pitfalls that HS2 has over the years. #infrastructure #investment #HS2

Four (personal) opinions on HS2 after the recent Hokey Cokey (Put the Euston leg in; take the Manchester leg out; shake it all about). 1. It takes longer to assemble a coalition of allies to support, fund and build a megaproject than it does to break down that coalition. Once you have the momentum there are grave risks to losing it. Keep going! 2. We should focus on the speed of delivery as well as the cost. Under the original plans, HS2 Phase 1 would have largely finished its construction by now and be preparing for operations in a few years. The current inflation spike would have had much less effect. Who is the "General Groves" of HS2, or indeed other UK projects? 3. If the project is paused and parts are at risk of cancellation then reopening the design may be a more sensible option. Changing stations in Manchester and Leeds to underground through-running instead of above-ground termini as per this Weston Williamson Partners proposal for "Trans Britain Railway" from 2021 (https://lnkd.in/ekVc7Eem) would create some really nice linkages, enable Northern Powerhouse Rail, and reduce severance locally. 4. Consider the customer. With 400m long trains there will, at least initially, be a lot of capacity on board trains. Work pods, meeting rooms, soft play areas for kids and a café would be really nice features and an inspiring message about the generational change HS2 will bring to transport.

Let us be a little radical based on this decision by the Tories now and from the inception by Labour. Major infrastructure and other major projects should not be determined by 2 party politics. It is not good for the long term, subject to corruption on all levels politically and does not serve businesses and ergo the country. There should be a forum for concensus, review and accountability. This Country can no longer afford short term political decisions by incompetents who only want to secure their pensions and not serve the people. The only power or decision making they should have is tinkering around the edges with to cost of tariffs/fares. Rant over, they ate all incompetent and do not serve what was once a great nation.
