Through the first 10 years of being a military spouse, I have learned many lessons. I think it is fair to say that at each base, there has been a major lesson learned. We spent three years living in Las Vegas at Nellis Air Force base. There was a lot happening through this assignment. It was our first official base after my spouse completed medical school, both of our children were born there, and it was where I had my first nursing jobs. The biggest life lesson in Las Vegas was compassion. Working as a hospice nurse for a company that also provided palliative care to children gave me a new understanding of compassion. Compassion is not just a feeling, it's an action. Learning to understand and empathize with others is the first step towards becoming a more compassionate person. Let's take the time to listen to those around us, offer support to those in need, and spread kindness wherever we go. Together, we can make the world a more compassionate and understanding place. What can you do today to show your compassion? #LifeCoach #MindSetCoach ##LifeLessons #PersonalDevelopment #selfemprovement #milspouse #militaryspouse

Data suggests Michigan nursing home care costs average $8,970 per month for a semi-private room and $9,720 per month for a private room. Getting veterans connected to the benefits they earned in service can make a big difference in their lives – and the lives of their families – when they need skilled care. At State Veterans Homes, veterans who require nursing home care for services related to a service-connected disability, or veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 70% or higher, are charged $0 for nursing home care, and they keep their disability compensation. Get connected to your veteran benefits before you need skilled care. Contact our friends at the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, at 800-MICH-VET, to get connected to an accredited veteran service officer from the State, Counties, or Veteran Service Organizations. It matters. #veterans #longtermcare #veteranbenefits

Attention all US military veterans! The deadline has been extended to Monday, August 14th! The new PACT Act offers vital additional benefits and healthcare, but applications are surprisingly low. In some states, less than 1% of eligible veterans have applied. Let's change that! Even if your claim was previously rejected, reapply now - chances of approval have improved. If you file a claim or submit an intent to file by Monday August 14th, you may get retroactive benefits from August 10th, 2022. For more information and to view a complete list of new presumptive conditions, please visit www.VA.gov/PACT. You can also call 1-800-MyVA411 and speak to a customer service representative. The PACT Act ensures that those exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, or other toxic substances during service can access the care they earned. Let's leave no veteran behind! #PFWarriors #CurePF4All #PACTAct #VeteransBenefits #SupportOurHeroes

📽️: Senator Angus King (I-ME) questions a CMS official about the merits of a nursing home staffing mandate during a historic labor crisis. "Everybody wants more staffing, but I'd like a date with Angelina Jolie, but it ain't gonna happen." Other senators on both sides of the aisle echoed Senator King's remarks during a hearing held by the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, emphasizing the "unrealistic" nature of a staffing mandate for nursing homes in the current environment. "HYPNOTISM is playing its part in healing the damage of war, not just on the frontline but on our streets. The nerves of many men and women who have been at the front line, whether it’s military active service, or on our streets with police, fire, ambulance, call taker, volunteers, doctors, nurses and medical personnel all have been jarred and jangled by the fury and noise of the work they signed up for, it’s now all like modern warfare, but the healing of those men and women can be vastly improved by the intervention of content free hypnosis, this means that our clients don’t need to talk about the trauma and risk re traumatising them. ☯️ ReConnect Therapy Australia can help you now. #hypnotherapy #ptsd #veterans #police #fire #ambulance #calltakers #volunteers #paramedics #doctors #nurses #stress #anxiety #flashbacks #contentfreehypno #kineticshift

The PACT Act doesn’t even scratch the surface re: the government taking care of veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals during their military service. Why?! Why is the federal government AND the VA not acknowledging that veterans are regularly exposed to a TON of toxins as part of their day-in, day-out duties, regardless of where they served, and then doing the right thing and taking care of these veterans in the same way as the PACT Act does for those who served overseas?! There is NO DIFFERENCE between a veteran who served overseas and was exposed to toxic chemicals via burn pits/downwind exposure, and a veteran who served state-bound here in the US, but was exposed to the same toxic chemicals!! Why is this so difficult for the federal government and the VA to acknowledge and do something about it?! My dad served in the Army and was exposed to various toxins daily, such as formaldehyde, Tetrachloroethene (aka “PCE”), Agent Orange (the Army stored huge barrels of it at US bases), pesticides, jet fuel, etc. I had similar toxic exposure in the Air Guard. But…THE PACT ACT ONLY HELPS VETERANS WHO MEET ITS EXTREMELY LIMITED FRAMEWORK. Why?! *EXPAND THE PACT ACT TO TAKE CARE OF ALL VETERANS WHO SERVED OUR GREAT NATION!!*
