As Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month comes to a close, we celebrate the diverse contributions of AAPI communities and reflect on our ongoing journey toward fostering inclusion. Throughout the month, ITT’s BOLD – Building Our Leaders and Doers employee resource group shared opportunities for deepening our collective understanding and appreciation of the AAPI community. Additionally, BOLD continued its offerings of professional development opportunities through a “Learning from Failure” Workshop with Stevens Institute of Technology, allowing ERG members to equip themselves for career growth. Let us carry the spirit of inclusion and understanding year-round as we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth #ITTInc #Inclusion

AAPI Community Breaking Stereotypes 💪 Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are a vibrant and diverse community, contributing to the rich cultural mosaic of America. They hail from a vast region that spans from the bustling cities of East Asia to the serene islands of the Pacific. This group is breaking stereotypes and forging new paths in various sectors: Chloe Zhao has made her mark in Hollywood, becoming the first woman of color to win an Oscar for Best Director for her movie Nomadland, highlighting her unique storytelling perspective. Prabal Gurung brings a fresh voice to the fashion industry, infusing his Nepalese heritage into modern designs that challenge traditional norms. Jeremy Lin has left an indelible mark on sports, transcending the basketball court to address issues of racism and representation. The AAPI community’s journey is one of perseverance, innovation, and celebration. From Chloe Zhao’s cinematic triumphs to Prabal Gurung’s fashion revolutions, and Jeremy Lin’s advocacy in sports, they have all paved the way for a future where diversity is not just accepted but embraced and honored. Their stories are not mere chapters in history but ongoing narratives that inspire and challenge us. They remind us that the American dream is a tapestry woven from threads of many cultures, each strand strengthening and enriching the whole. As the AAPI community continues to grow and thrive, their contributions will undoubtedly shape the fabric of American society for the better, ensuring that the nation’s future is as vibrant and dynamic as the community itself. Their legacy is a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of unity in diversity, and a celebration of the human spirit’s boundless potential. 🌅 Wen Stenger 🏳️🌈 Balaji Thiagarajan TechDigital #AAPIExcellence #AAPIHM #AsianAmericanPacificIslandersHeritageMonth #AAPI #DiversityInAction #Trailblazers #UnityInDiversity #Inspiration #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

🌟 Embracing the JEDI Framework: Transforming Program Development and Implementation! 🌟 In the realm of program development and implementation, we are witnessing a powerful shift from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI). 🚀 This transformative journey is redefining how organizations approach social justice and equality. At its core, JEDI principles advocate for dismantling systemic barriers, amplifying marginalized voices, and nurturing inclusive environments. Programs operating within the JEDI framework prioritize meaningful community engagement and collaborate closely with stakeholders, ensuring bespoke solutions that cater to specific needs. Transparency, accountability, and continuous evaluation drive JEDI implementation propelling us toward a future where everyone's rights and needs are equally valued and respected. 🌍 Together, we pave the way toward a more just, equitable, and inclusive tomorrow! #JEDI #Justice #Equity #Diversity #Inclusion #SocialJustice #InclusiveFuture #ProgramDevelopment #EquitableSolutions #InclusiveLeadership #TransformativeChange

📢 Excited to share my thoughts on advocating for the AAPI community and promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) programs! 🌟 🤝 We can create a more inclusive workplace and society by actively promoting DE&I initiatives. Here are some actionable steps we can take to support this group: 1️⃣ Educate Ourselves: Educate ourselves about the history, culture, and challenges faced by the AAPI community. 2️⃣ Amplify Voices: Use our platforms to amplify AAPI voices. 3️⃣ Celebrate Diversity: Embrace and celebrate the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that AAPI colleagues bring to the table. 4️⃣ Champion DE&I Policies: Advocate for company-wide DE&I policies that specifically address the needs of the AAPI community. 5️⃣Engage in Dialogue: Initiate open conversations about DE&I topics, promoting understanding and empathy among team members. Together, let's build an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, empowered, and supported. #AAPICommunity #DEI #InclusionMatters #iwork4thehartford

This Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we're shedding light on the stark reality many AAPI employees face - a lack of representation and belonging in leadership and decisions impacting their careers. The stats are eye-opening: Only 26% of Asian American workers strongly agree there are others like them in leadership positions or that they feel supported in pursuing leadership opportunities. This is significantly lower than 41% of all workers. Moreover, 30% of Asian American workers say others have made assumptions about the type of work they do based solely on their race or ethnicity. This rate is higher than white, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and Native American/Alaskan Native workers. AAPI employees deserve equitable pathways to achievement and leadership without being disadvantaged by harmful stereotypes or invisibility. True inclusion means: ✊ Actively developing AAPI talent for management roles ✊ Amplifying AAPI voices in decision-making ✊ Calling out biases and dismantling model minority myths Let's celebrate AAPI heritage by ensuring their experiences, accomplishments, and perspectives are seen, heard and valued in our workplaces. 🌟 Excited to share SKALA’s efforts and achievements in promoting GEDSI in Indonesia. The recent recognition of Ibu Ratna Fitriani's GEDSI work through the DT Global Woman of the Year Award highlights the collective dedication of our team and partners. 👍 At SKALA, we integrate GEDSI as a core element in all our initiatives, ensuring that our programs are inclusive and impactful. From our strategic planning to daily operations, GEDSI principles guide us in creating environments where everyone, especially the most vulnerable, can thrive. 🔦 Our efforts include setting recruitment quotas for people with disabilities, choosing inclusive office locations, and incorporating local contexts through GEDSI coordinators at sub-national levels. These actions ensure that GEDSI considerations are deeply embedded in our operations and decision-making processes. 🤝 Collaboration with government and international partners has been crucial in advancing GEDSI in development agendas. Our contribution to gender tagging in financial reporting systems and the vision to expand this to disability tagging are true steps toward inclusive growth. 💛 The commitment to GEDSI is not just about meeting legal requirements but genuinely creating an inclusive environment that benefits everyone. The strong support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Government of Indonesia has been instrumental in resourcing and advancing these initiatives. This is a great webinar to be introduced by the Law Society. Ramadan, although spiritually rewarding, can be very difficult especially when you're trying to keep up with your colleagues and clients but with often a lot less sleep and zero brain food for an entire month. Subtle changes to help those fasting during Ramadan in the work place is always welcomed such as a later start, flexible working during Ramadan and of course, making those aware in the workplace what Ramadan is and how best ti support colleagues during that month.
Upcoming webinar alert! Please do join our free 'share and learn’ lunchtime event on 7 March at 12.30pm to raise awareness and promote a better understanding of the Muslim festival of Ramadan. The event is designed for all solicitors, at all levels within an organisation and aims to provide the knowledge needed to contribute to the creation of an inclusive work environment. Led by Naeema Yaqoob Sajid, of Diversity , we will be inviting contributions from those attending to further promote the spirit of inclusion and experience sharing.
