The Future of Software-Defined Vehicles Historically, vehicles were governed by hardware and mechanics. Now, the software enables most vehicle features. However, a software-defined vehicle will have easily updatable software, allowing almost instant delivery of new functions. The science behind the Software Stack Vehicle operations are currently governed by specific hardware and software layers called software stack. Modern vehicle architecture has too many unique hardware pieces. Future vehicles will have fewer, more flexible hardware components, with capabilities enabled by applications. What changes need to be made Creating software-defined vehicles demands fewer but more powerful electronic control units. Suppliers will need to create transparent and flexible software layers while ensuring safety. Automakers must separate the life cycles of software and hardware and invest more in software maintenance and support. They will need to be organizationally prepared to roll out new software, which isn’t an easy task. The move towards software-defined vehicles marks a major shift in the automotive industry. We´re not talking about new car designs and trends, we talked about the purpose of everything. Not about what we need to do, or must do, or even think what we need to do. More about the things we should do. What is the hidden objective behind when we develop ideas, solution or just solving a problem. How we see “through” a task or challenge to see the actual purpose. The WHY. It was very impressive to learn how Chris makes decisions to make his work more purposeful. Since that time, my thinking and approach to solving complex tasks or achieving transformational goals has completely changed. And when we talk about #HyperAutomation today, it's the same way.
