In this video, I share some practical insights from my experience with 'Team Awesome,' a group that knows how to mix fun and connection. Do you need a schedule when organizing an event? Sure, it’s better. If you host the same event every month, people start to expect it. They make time for it. But then, what about organizing an event just 3 days in advance? That’s a totally different mindset. And it is possible. Sure, you have very little time to promote it. But, if it is good, it will work. #coworking #community #remotework
It’s good to have a structure and schedule but…

✨ The REAL Reason I Started Posting Highlights of My WWP Events Might Surprise You! ✨ While it's easy to assume I do it for outreach, connections, awareness, networking, fundraising or showcasing... the truth is a bit more personal. Working remotely and living alone, I've realized I don't have anyone to "share" these special moments with. The simple act of having one person ask you each day-"How was your day?" or "What did you do today?" is more powerful than you might think---(trust me on this!) To share what these events mean to our warriors and families is one thing, but on a selfish and more personal level, I miss being able to share what they mean to me. What I get to witness at events, how they change my life. Working and living in a bit of an isolation vacuum---it's almost like—if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it still make a noise? lol. So I've started sharing these highlights on this platform, because I've realized that sharing and interconnection are essential in life (at least mine)...and sometimes you just have to create a work-around. Have you ever felt the same way? Let's connect in the comments! #WWPEvents #EventPlanning #RemoteWorkLife #PersonalGrowth #ConnectionMatters #WorkLifeBalance #isolation #connection

You aren't just a company, you're a community. Your company could be viewed as a collection of individuals brought together by their skillset. But it's so much more than that. You've built a community. You've built a community of like-minded people all working towards collective goals. Everyone supports and builds each other up to progress to greatness. How do you maintain your community? ✅You show them they're valued. ✅You show them they're in this together. ✅You show them they're a community that goes beyond the office walls. You need the perfect solution to combine all three. Everyone is in one place, sharing an experience, and feeling tightly connected. Well-being is more than an activity. It's a feeling we all share, and can all work towards. Bring your community together. Event Tip 👉Volunteer. There is no better way to learn than to volunteer. If you have followed me throughout 2023 you will know that this is not the first time I have posted volunteering as a solid #EventTip. As 2023 draws to a close and many of us check in with ourselves and revisit our own goals and objectives, sometimes we need to think outside of “work” as well. Volunteering can allow you to find your people, your “community” and your support network. Going back in time I recall one of my very first volunteer opportunities in the events industry with the (now defunct) Association of Canadian Hotel Marketing and Sales Executives (CHMSE). I put my hand up for the events committee. Why not? It gave me a chance to truly live events from start to finish with some wonderful industry folks. There have been many opportunities since. All have taught me something. Over the past year, I have been fortunate enough to be involved with The Sustainable Events Forum (TSEF) 🌎 🌱 Check out their work here: www.tsef.ca I have also lent my time to the #AVIXA Women’s Council where I deepened my understanding of the Audio-Visual Integrated Experience Assn ♀ If you volunteer for the right reasons, you are doing good for others and your community 🤝 Look for opportunities that align with you. Even adding your talents to a committee or task to start will not only help you better understand what works for you and your community, but It will also help share the load. Why not consider adding your name to an opportunity that speaks to you? Learn to do by doing. By the way that ⬆ was the original 4-H motto and where I started my volunteer days. I wish you well with your 2024 planning, be it work, personal or volunteer 😊 #EventTips #TuesdayTips #Volunteer #EventDesign #Production #AVTweeps #AV #EventProfs #EventMarketing #MeetingPlanner #LiveEvents #TSEF #WomensCouncil #AVIXA

Agile Coach // Founder @ Starizon & Beyond (Building a different life coaching experience) // Aspiring Author (Book In Progress) // Ideator & Experimenter // Ex-Management Consultant
When I was more intentional in building a professional network, I volunteered to help out at a #networking event hosted by an industry body. As a volunteer, my responsibilities were mostly around the event registration booth: 🔹Preparing name tags for event speakers and attendees 🔹Marking guests' attendance 🔹Ushering guests into the venue hall to find their designated seats etc. It was a good way of pre-networking with the event organizing team, and the VIPs too; right before the event began. --- I kept helping out for a couple more events hosted by the same organization, for the rest of that year. In the process, I got more comfortable with my networking style too! 😉 --- And then an opportunity came up for me to join one of their sub-committees as a Co-Chair! I took the opportunity. Because I was ready to take on more planning and execution responsibilities; and share my networking tips with others. --- 💡 If you ever want to be involved in a professional capacity outside of your current school/organization, I strongly encourage you to start with #volunteering. 🫶🏻 You can always work your way in, and up. 🎢
