No matter the league you play in, you’ve got to own your journey and be in charge of your own standards. Giannis’ thirst for more titles doesn’t put more pressure on Khris Middleton’s shoulders as he already holds himself accountable for who he wants to be as a player. Defining and accepting your standards will help you stay motivated, take responsibility, and be happier on the court. It might seem so simple and yet it is a big reminder for all players and coaches. #themindgameofbasketball #definingstandards #objectives #accountability #ownyourjourney #mentalhealth #mentalperformance #mentaltraining

In the world of sports, the phrase "play through the pain" is often glorified, representing resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the team. However, it's a double-edged sword that demands a closer examination. Take the recent Game 7 showdown between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers, where both Josh Hart and OG Anunoby exemplified this mentality. Despite battling injuries, they stepped onto the court, driven by the sheer determination to support their team in the most critical moment of the season. Josh Hart, known for his gritty playstyle and defensive prowess, pushed through physical discomfort to provide the Knicks with crucial minutes and defensive stability. Similarly, OG Anunoby, a key player for the Knicks, fought through his pain to contribute. Though he managed only five minutes on the court before his injury forced him to sit out, his willingness to step up in such a crucial game highlighted his dedication and mental toughness. Yet, while these acts of bravery are commendable, they also prompt us to reflect on the long-term implications for athletes. Playing through pain can sometimes exacerbate injuries, leading to prolonged recovery periods and potential long-term health issues. It raises important questions about the balance between short-term goals and long-term well-being. In our own professional lives, we can draw parallels. The drive to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and push through challenging times is essential. However, it's equally important to recognize when to step back, seek help, and prioritize our health. Sustainable success isn't just about pushing through adversity, but also about making smart, informed decisions about our well-being. Let’s celebrate the incredible dedication of athletes like Hart and Anunoby, but also advocate for a culture where health and well-being are prioritized. After all, true resilience is not just about enduring pain but knowing when to seek support. #Sports #MentalToughness #HealthAndWellBeing #Leadership #Resilience #NBA #Knicks #JoshHart #OGAnunoby

If you want to be successful in anything in life - sports, business, education, relationships, you name it - you are better off looking at what has worked for the majority of individuals who have previously been successful. For some reason, though, people always seem to be drawn to the exceptions to the rule. Using the example of baseball development, I discuss this phenomenon in further detail today: https://lnkd.in/eQ4mCNX

Former Pro Athlete | Founder of Vetted Sports | Daily insights around sports, technology & investing
They blew it out of the water this year. Last Friday, with over 14 million average viewers, the Iowa vs UConn women's Final Four-game averaged more viewers than (per Joe Pompliano*): • Any women's CBB game ever • All 2023 NBA Finals games • All 2023 World Series games • The 2023 Orange Bowl • The 2023 Big Ten Championship • The 2023 Cotton Bowl • The 2023 Pac-12 Championship • The 2023 Big-12 Championship • The 2023 ACC Championship • The 2023 Peach Bowl • The 2023 Masters Final Round • All tennis grand slam finals (men's & women's) • All 2023 CFB regular season games except one Only to be surpassed by Sunday's Championship game between Iowa and South Carolina which drew... 18.7 million viewers 🤯 The game also peaked at 24 million viewers and was the most watched basketball game — men's or women's, college or pro — in five years. Pretty insane considering that weight room video was only only 3 years ago... IYKYK. But the question remains. With superstars such as Angel Reece, Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso and Paige Bueckers taking their talents to the WNBA, will women's college basketball continue to trend upward? Without a doubt and here's why... 1) There is a conscious effort to increase viewership and awareness now more than ever before 2) There is now more investment and infrastructure, including funding, facilities and support 3) There are plenty of players who have high and very lucrative NIL profiles which gives additional exposure and visibility to the sport 4) There are several real deal hoopers who are next in line None of this is an anomaly. It's the start of a new era in women's sports. And major shoutout to Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks 👏🔥 #ncaa #marchmadness #sportsbusiness
