We are very thrilled to have been selected as one of the curated impact opportunity on newly launched Co-Axis platform in Partnership with Silverstrand Capital and our grassroots partner Collective Efforts for Voluntary Action (CEVA) Since 2021, local communities we are working with have been signaling perhaps the most urgent issue of loss of medicinal and aromatic plants from the landscape. Unsustainable harvest and excessive trade of medicinal and aromatic plants is creating a dangerous situation in the upper Himalayas. From our work with the community, we gather that there are nearly 10 species which are near to extinction in Pangi, Himachal Pradesh if measures are not taken immediately they will disspear from the valley. Situation might be same across other places. 80% of the harvesters are women, and depends on the income from trade. Our proposed project attempts to work with local harvesters, and pharmaceutical companies to bring better harvesting and trade practices that are scientific, practically sustainable, and offers a better returns to both the parties. New mindsets and greater collaboration can lead to business opportunities that benefit a wide range of stakeholders and the environment. One example of this is the seaweed forest restoration project in Norway. By teaming up with NGOs, government, local communities, and academics, a company reliant on seaweed extracts has reversed the decline of this valuable natural resource. This project is a great example of how sustainable business practices and carbon capture can be achieved through collaboration and a mindset shift. #sustainablebusiness #carboncapture #collaboration #mindsetshift Check out the details of this successful project here: https://lnkd.in/eiJdW-tX

🌿 Excited to announce my first day at Lester Asset Management! Over the next four months, I will be contributing to the Lynx Global Biodiversity Fund, Canada’s first biodiversity initiative, focusing on its fourth theme: sustainable agriculture and food systems. This includes agrotechnology, agriscience, soil & crop management, food & beverage systems, and fishing & agriculture. The urgency of this initiative is undeniable: global biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate due to deforestation, wetland loss, land degradation, pollution, and climate change. Since 1970, human population has doubled, resulting in significant losses: 70% reduction in wetlands, 70% decline in animal populations, 50% decrease in forests and coral reefs, and 20% loss of total land area, resulting in over 1 million species currently at risk of extinction. The Lynx Global Biodiversity Fund aims to grow capital by investing in companies aligned with nature-positive goals, driving long-term change. Our focus is on investing in nature-based solutions to halt and reverse nature loss and land degradation while promoting sustainability and addressing critical issues like water and food security. I'm thrilled to embark on this journey alongside dedicated individuals like Stephen Takacsy and Matthew Kaszel, CFA. Together, we're committed to making a meaningful impact and shaping a more sustainable future for our planet. 🌱 #LesterAssetManagement #Biodiversity #Sustainability #GlobalImpact #SunstainableInvesting

Happy World Planting Day! To further our environmental commitment, Arval has since 2021 partnered with Reforest’Action to launch our first international biodiversity project. It consists of planting or regenerating* one tree for every leased electrified (electric & hybrid) vehicle in all Arval countries. At the end of 2023, together with Reforest'Action, who is in charge of planting and regenerating trees, we have already financed 335.000 trees in 50 forests around the world. The goal is to finance 700,000 trees by 2025, in line with Arval's ambition to lease 700,000 electrified vehicles by the end of the Arval Beyond strategic plan. *Reforest’Action regenerates trees with Assisted Natural Regeneration which is a natural method that helps preserve and strengthen existing forests through management that combines the trees’ natural reproduction cycle with silviculture work. 📸: Reforest Action - Amblève (Belgium)

Exciting shifts in sustainable investment are underway! Yusuf Khan's article sheds light on the growing trend of forest investment, where investors now weigh timber production against carbon credit generation. With demand surging for carbon credits, forests are becoming prime assets for environmentally conscious investors. Firms like Manulife are leading the charge, carefully managing forests to optimize both timber and carbon benefits. Transparency and accountability are paramount as the carbon credit market expands. Kudos to initiatives like Finite Carbon and Foresight Sustainable Forestry Company for driving positive change. At Earth Responsibility Score, we champion responsible investing for a greener future. Let's join forces to shape a sustainable world together! #SustainableInvesting #ForestManagement #CarbonCredits #ESGInvesting #EarthResponsibilityScore
