Dear Pharmacist(s)
A big thank you to all those who have casted their votes on the South African Pharmacy Council’s (SAPC) secure voting site. To those who have not done so, you have until Monday 6am, 16 October 2023 to make your vote count.
Let us all remember that a united profession is a united Statutory Power. The SAPC, being a creature of statute, like any other Statutory Body has a role to ensure that all executive organs of state at the national level of government are answerable to it to the extent permissible by law, and maintaining oversight over the exercise of national government authority, and the implementation of legislation, in our case the Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974 (Pharmacy Act).
At the end of its periodic term, a Statutory Body ought to be judged by what it has accomplished during its tenure. Accordingly, the SAPC is expected and obliged in terms of S3(b) of the Pharmacy Act, amongst other things, to advise the Minister of Health or any other person on any matter relating to pharmacy. The aforesaid object of the SAPC should and must be the yardstick with which the 2024-2028 Council is judged by the profession.
Lastly, and most importantly the Council consists of at least 20/25 pharmacists. POWERFUL UNITED VOICES for shaping the future of the pharmacy fraternity. THE TIME IS NOW! Make your mark on the SAPC’s secure voting site before Monday 6am, 16 October 2023. VOTE FUMANI B MABUZA P43470- THE LEGAL VOICE FOR INCLUSIVE TRANSFORMATION OF THE PHARMACY PROFESSION.
