🤖 👁️ Could AI revolutionise supply chain data quality and achieve 100% inventory accuracy? Is the era of human-driven cycle counting over? Let’s talk straight: most of the supply chain optimisation algorithms we rely on today have been around for ages and they are doing a good enough job. The real challenge for data teams in the supply chain field? 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 👨💻 In supply chain operations, a significant portion of data entry relies on human activity, whether it's manual input into systems or scanning barcodes. Unfortunately, adherence to correct procedures isn't always consistent, especially when those responsible for data entry don't directly utilise the data they're generating. This often leaves us with missing or inaccurate data. And when algorithms make decisions based on poor data, the quality of their recommendations leaves much to be desired. 🚀 That's why I'm always on the lookout for innovative solutions that revamp how we collect supply chain data. Last week, I stumbled upon one such solution: Vimaan. Backed by funding from the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, Vimaan offers real-time computer vision solutions that improve inventory accuracy and visibility throughout warehouses. Instead of relying on human-driven cycle counts, Vimaan introduces drones and specialised sleds equipped with scanning capabilities to cross-check warehouse state against WMS records. Vimaan claims an impressive 100% inventory accuracy rate. Independent reviews have been hard to find online at this stage to verify these claims. 💎 In my opinion, if cost-effective, such solutions can have a profound impact on data teams working on supply chain problems as we will finally get the data of much higher quality to work with which will have direct consequences for the quality of AI recommendations.
