Whatever Happened to ED&I? 🤔 Truth Director, Dr Mark Thorpe has written a brilliant article in Research Live, explaining why #Equality, #Diversity, and #Inclusion (ED&I) will not simply take care of itself, and that change requires greater collective responsibility (and participation) from the sector. 💬 He tells us, 'Being visible in the ED&I narrative was not just the right thing to do; it was the essential thing to do… As I see it, a big part of the problem is the (implicit) belief that the quest for diversity and equality is now well on its way to achieving the intended results. Support has been given, gains have been made, and we move on. ED&I is also less shiny than it once was (and much less shiny than generative AI).' I see a future in curating topics about change, and protecting Black and Women of Color. We don’t deserve consistent and constant disruption of our peace. 📣No human but especially black or brown women should ever get to the point of thinking about ending their lives (or actually choosing to follow through with it) in order to maintain peace. 📣Organizations really need to look at how their policies, systems, and processes are set up. Don’t just look at them though. Dismantle the obsolete, oppressive systems. They only center those in power. 📣Dismantle that power structure.
