I had the privilege of touring Limberlost Place, an inspiring Introba project and soon-to-be Toronto's first Tall Wood Research Institute.   This 10-story marvel showcases our unique systems design for a zero-carbon building, using nationally sourced materials and incorporating decentralized mechanical systems that work seamlessly with passive design elements to create an energy-efficient and healthy environment.   The exposed mass timber structure, a first for a high-rise educational building, combines cutting-edge engineering with sustainable materials.   Advanced mechanical features include radiant ceilings for heating and cooling, under-floor air delivery for ventilation and dehumidification, and rooms with solar chimney systems that provide natural light and ventilation when outdoor conditions are favorable. An integrated smart building system equips the structure with adaptable technology.   In spring and fall, the building employs natural ventilation through a mix of manual and automated window operators, supplemented by solar chimneys that use thermal buoyancy instead of fans.   Introba is delivering comprehensive services for the project, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, technology, and sustainability solutions. Once complete, it will become an educational hub for George Brown College, offering research, teaching, learning spaces, and a childcare facility for the community.   A big thank you to Phil Silverstein, Principal and Contract Administrator at Moriyama Teshima Architects, and Chloe Dagenais, Building Systems Coordinator at PCL Construction, for taking the time to show me around the facility.   Together, we're transforming the building landscape, proving that beautiful, functional spaces can also be environmentally responsible, and setting a new standard for low-carbon construction.   To learn more about the project ➡ https://lnkd.in/z6f2q   #Sustainability #NetZero
