Happy World Food Safety Day 2024!
This year, the World Food Safety Day draws attention to the importance of preparedness towards food safety incidents. Danish food is internationally recognized for its high food quality and –safety. This is due to the strong collaboration between companies, research, authorities, and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA), who support the high quality, food safety, innovation, and trust in Danish food products.
Ensuring food safety is complex as it involves all stages of the production chain. As no chain is stronger than its weakest link, all stages must be managed in a holistic manner to ensure preparedness towards food safety incidents. In managing the food production chain from farm to fork, Denmark excels through stringent controls, reducing zoonosis, imposing strict bio-security measures to prevent the spread of animal disease, low use of antibiotics in livestock and pesticides in crops, extensive surveillance programmes, and thorough risk analysis.
