🛠➡️ 60 Years of LNG: Global Liquefaction Capacity from 1964 to 2024 Our industry will soon celebrate 60 years since the export of the first commercial cargo of LNG from the baseload CAMEL plant in Arzew, Algeria. On October 12, 1964, the Methane Princess, the world’s first ship specifically designed for LNG trade, delivered the inaugural commercial LNG cargo to the UK’s Canvey Island regasification terminal. Over six decades, the sector has expanded from this single trade between Algeria and the UK, surpassing 400 million tonnes of LNG traded last year. From Algeria's dominance until 2002, through the significant contributions of Malaysia and Nigeria soon after, Qatar's phenomenal rise, followed by Australia's leadership, and the shale revolution that positioned the US as the top LNG exporter, our industry has undergone tremendous transformation. These changes have been driven by opportunities, innovation, and sometimes uncertainties, but most importantly, by the resilience of the people who have shaped our industry over sixty years. A big thank you to the International Gas Union for the timely release of the World LNG Report 2024. 🎬 video download https://lnkd.in/gfkQPTmF #LNG #LNGtrade #liquefaction #LNGindustry

Mehdy Touil, when I started working in LNG, the global LNG market was only 13 MTPA. It’s been an exciting journey. Don

Yemen last cargo was in 2015. Also Libya has No LNG plant. It is great one but I guess it is not updated.

This is a great animation! But I couldn’t resist to add some music to make it just a tad more extra https://x.com/sstapczynski/status/1807406733620658535?s=46

Mehdy Touil Thanks for sharing. Its interesting to see how your home country and Africa led the pack until the 2000's when Qatar ran in galactic speed over the others. I think the US will lead for another 4-5 years before Qatar takes the spot again. Great insight and infographic.

I think Mozambique (3.4mpta) could be added, and Congo next year.
