Natural gas is expected to fill an ongoing role in a secure global energy future, but producers are, at the same time, expected to strive for continuous improvement in their environmental performance and provide greater transparency surrounding the impact natural gas has on the environment. In recent years, this has translated into a growing movement to certify gas on its emission footprint. In some cases, producers are opting for more than one certification process. Natural gas is the largest primary energy produced in the U.S., and its use is growing. This National Petroleum Council study is a roadmap for advances in technology and policy that can lead to a 2050 reduction potential of: 70% ⬇️ methane emissions 33% ⬇️ carbon dioxide emissions 52% ⬇️ combined GHG emissions ClearPath was part of the team working on the report and specifically helped on several recommendations, including: 🔹standardization of differentiated gas; 🔹CCS deployment at LNG facilities; and 🔹use of satellites for global monitoring of GHGs, including methane. https://lnkd.in/gPSWDW8g

🌍📢 Today the European Parliament officially adopted the gas and hydrogen package, a key part of the European #GreenDeal, aiming to replace fossil gas with "decarbonized" alternatives and pave the way for a future hydrogen market. Our analysis highlights both progress and shortcomings of the package: ❌it falls short of providing a clear framework for phasing out fossil gas ✔️it initiates positive steps toward decommissioning unnecessary gas grids and prioritising hydrogen for key sectors. The adopting revisions are blurring the lines between the #fossilgas and hydrogen industries at a critical moment when we require clear, safe, and sustainable actions. 🔍 Read more and find our analysis here https://lnkd.in/d9b2AaS5

Natural gas plays a crucial role in the search for sustainable energy solutions. It is a key piece in solving the Energy Trilemma, balancing sustainability, accessibility and energy security. ✔️ Sustainability: Natural gas is a cleaner energy option compared to traditional fossil fuels. Burning it produces fewer carbon emissions, helping to reduce carbon footprints and combat climate change. 💰 Accessibility: It is an affordable and reliable source of energy, essential to meet global energy needs. This promotes economic development and improves the quality of life. 🛡️ Energy Security: Natural gas offers flexibility and stability to energy systems, reducing vulnerability to interruptions in energy supply. By integrating natural gas into our energy mix, we can take energy forward into a safer, cleaner and more efficient future. We need continue to explore its potential and drive energy innovation for the benefit of people and the planet. Below I will leave an interview with our chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli here at Baker Hughes where he talks a little more about this importance of Natural gas. https://lnkd.in/dngQSBwX #NaturalGas #SustainableEnergy #Sustainability #Accessibility #EnergySecurity #EnergyTrilemma #WeAreBakerHughes

Natural gas is a much cleaner energy source compared to coal and oil. This is because it produces less carbon per unit of energy produced. It is a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels and a very flexible source of energy. #naturalgas #LNG
