Paris 2024 was the Olympic games of the new era, the outgoing president of the IOC - Thomas Bach said it himself, and he's not wrong. The spectacle in the city of light 128 years after the 'modern' Olympics began has shown that it's not only possible to adapt to change while remaining true to yourself, it's a necessity. Paris has become the most followed Games ever. The IOC's Olympic handles alone had more than 12.5 billion engagements before the final weekend. The Olympic games gives us a great barometer on which to gauge the world we live. Despite the worst of it - wars in Ukraine and Gaza, tensions between superpowers the USA and China, and the seeds of political and ideological discontent magnified by the proliferation of fake news - there resides among us an ability to come together and celebrate the best of it. The Olympic games begin this Friday in Paris. Extraordinarily, the Israeli team has yet to be uninvited. What kind of message are the International Olympic Committee trying to send to the world? Forget about our previous motto, Faster-Higher-Stronger. Our new one is Seedier-Grubbier-Shadier. Don't worry about the old Olympic values: Excellence, Respect, Friendship. These are our new values: Suffering, Slaughter, Colonialism. "Never Again" is highly overrated. How about, "Again and Again and Again" French politician, Thomas Portes, has said that Israelis are not welcome in Paris. If the IOC had done their job properly he wouldn't have had to have said this. The IOC should have banned Israel months ago, once the extent of their merciless slaughter in Gaza was self-evident. By allowing a transparently genocidal nation to compete, the IOC has tarnished both the Olympic movement and the legacy of the Paris games. Shame on the IOC.

Free Ukraine welcomes the decision made by International Olympic Committee – IOC on October 12, 2023, to suspend the russian Olympic Committee. This action comes in response to their recognition of the illegally annexed Ukrainian territories and so-called “sports organizations” within the occupied regions of Donbas, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia. IOC won't require Russians to wear unified neutral uniforms at Paris Olympics Russian and Belarusian athletes are still subject to restrictions MOSCOW/ Russian and Belarusian athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics won’t have to use a unified uniform, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) told TASS. "As AIN athletes will be competing as individuals, they do not require unified uniforms. However, all competition and non-competition wear must adhere to the uniform guidelines outlined in the principles of participation for AINs by the IOC Executive Board on December 8, 2023," the organization said. The Paris Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. Russian and Belarusian athletes are still subject to restrictions. In Paris, they will be able to perform only in a neutral status, they will be forbidden to demonstrate any connection with their countries and to participate in team competitions. The Russian authorities consider the IOC's decision to be discriminatory and contrary to Olympic principles. #business #finance #financialservices

South Sudan ready to make Africa proud at the Olympics. I) As the Paris Olympic kick start there are usual favorite to lookout in the various competing games. II) One of the most competitive games at the Olympics is the men's basketball. With only 12 teams across the globe competing, to be a part of the qualified teams is a great win. III) From the African continent, one of the unusual places bringing hope to the continent at the Paris2024 Olympics is the South Sudan national basketball team. IV) This hope spread joy from the Kakuma Refugee Camp where some of these players were raised to the southern part of the continent all beaming with hope of victory. V) A young country rising from the decades of conflicts and poverty, South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in 2011. VI) Amidst hope and fear, South Sudan is the only African country competing in the basketball event of the Paris2024 Olympic. VII) These young men are ready to take the world best to set the standard and create a way for the teaming young people who are ready to take up as the next generation. Russian athletes who want to compete in Paris must go through a two-stage approval process. They must petition the governing bodies of their sports, then be approved by an IOC review panel that judges if the athletes have expressed support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or have ties to sports clubs linked to the Russian military. If approved by the IOC, Russian athletes will be considered Individual Neutral Athletes — abbreviated as AIN, after the French translation of that phrase — and will not be allowed to feature the Russian flag on their uniforms, instead wearing the red, white and blue of France’s flag. If a Russian athlete wins a gold medal, the country’s national anthem will be replaced by IOC-commissioned music and a generic AIN flag will be raised.
