The IIR attended the OEWG in Montreal! The 46th meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) took place in Montreal from July 8-12, 2024. Key discussions focused on several critical issues pertaining to ozone depletion and climate change. Debates were focused on Very Short-Lived Substances, Lifecycle Refrigerant Management, Replenishment of the Multilateral Fund, Enhanced Global and Regional Atmospheric Monitoring, Energy Efficiency and HFC Phase-down and Alternative Substances in Medical Applications. IIR’s incoming General Director, Yosr Allouche, Ph.D, made significant contributions in two key events hosted by AREA and Centro Studi Galileo : 1- ‘Next Practices’ as Against ‘Best Practices’ Training Servicing and Maintenance Sector where Yosr Allouche shared valuable insights on “Building National Capacity in Refrigeration: A Country Specific Approach”. 2- Case Studies in Energy Efficient Cooling Systems where she addressed the topic of “Refrigeration and Sustainability: Pathways to Emissions Mitigation”.
