What is equally as vital as financial literacy? As a #neurodivergent #creative its navigating self-expression, ideation, and using creative thinking in sustainable ways. Research sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts shows that engagement in the arts is linked to stronger school attachments and social bonds in adolescents, higher academic performance, greater optimism about future educational opportunities, fewer delinquencies, suspensions and expulsions, less depression, less substance abuse, and less screen time. Creativity is essential for personal and community growth. Its accessibility is enhanced through sustainable practices like reuse, and affordable arts programming. Allowing creativity to thrive is a vital part of our cultural and social fabrics, and it is refreshing to the eyes and mind to see sustainability in all efforts to support it 🖤

Is branding a dirty word?! 🤫 Driftime® – A Design & Impact Agency’s CCO Abb-d Taiyo recently discussed why in an article for the lovely lot at Creativebrief! In the third sector, charities and nonprofits have long sought to distance themselves from commercial brands. With the rise of concepts like 'purpose-led' brands, more traditional third sector organisations are having to work harder to be seen, uplifted, and crucially, funded. Let’s not let nonprofits fall through the cracks. If the best copywriters, photographers, videographers, developers, and designers partner with nonprofits, imagine the good we could do in the world. Arts organizations could sell out tickets to their shows.  Service providers would be more successful in pulling people out of poverty. Mental health organizations could break down stigma, making it easier for people to get help. This is why I chose to use my design skills to support nonprofits. Because it means my skills translate into real community impact. Good design (and by extension, good marketing) makes causes more visible, communicates their needs more clearly, and emotionally connects with donors to help them understand how to become part of the solution.
