The performance of NABCB in India is deeply concerning and warrants serious attention. It appears to have become a stagnant organization, overseen by individuals lacking competence and awareness of NABCB's core objectives. Despite its affiliation with QCI, NABCB has inadequately monitored conformity assessment bodies (CABs) and certification standards, neglecting its duty to uphold consumer interests. Furthermore, NABCB's endorsement of ISO-like substandard quality certifications is troubling. The organization remains passive regarding the commercialization of quality and endorses self-proclaimed Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) promoters such as IAF, contributing to financial exploitation without adequate oversight of Accreditation Bodies (ABs). The inefficacy and lack of foresight displayed by NABCB have left Indian consumers vulnerable to subpar products and services. Urgent measures are required to overhaul and reassess NABCB's role and operations, reinstating confidence and ensuring consumer protection across India.
The IAF/ILAC Joint Development Support Committee held their mid-term meeting on 16 April. Attendees heard updates and discussed activities and programs relating to member development and achievement of IAF MLA/ILAC MRA recognition. I often find it challenging to grasp the applicability of IAF MDs across various accreditation schemes. Fresh from our recent joint APAC-ARAC reevaluation of the Gulf Cooperation Council Accreditation Center (GCC-GAC) that covered some of the IAF side schemes, I devised a method to streamline this information with the idea to present these MDs in a tabulated format, allowing for easy identification and a quick overview of their relevance to each accreditation scheme. Majority of the MDs are related to ISO/IEC 17021-1 however application of those also depends on the level-5 sub-scopes in this scheme. Sharing as some might find it useful. #IAFMDs #AccreditationSchemes #StreamlinedInformation

#IAF #UAF #ABs #CBs #ConsumerAffairs #QualityStandards UAF, an International Accreditaion body from USA has suspended accreditation of 4 Indian CBs yesterday . If I remember , IAS, another International Accreditaion body has suspended many CBs last year in India. It's the duty of Accreditation Bodies to do market surveillance and delist Certification Bodies for wrongntrade practices. Reasons for delisted can be many but delisting means they can't issue Certificates any longer for the activities, scope of services for which they are suspended. Mushrooming of these agencies are always from Delhi and spreading wings to other parts of the country too. What do these certification bodies do ? They sell quality certificates ...errrr ...sorry, they offer "Audit and Assurance Services " for Quality , Safety and various other Systems Standards needed for businesses. All are selling Certificates like selling kites.. Now whose resonsbility it is to upload all these announcements in the Portals in India. Who is Responsbile for Consumer Affairs, Consumer Safety ? Ministry of Consumer Affairs right. Let them upload all these in public alert registry on Quality Certificates . Let all other PSUs, Regulators in the country refer this portal and release their alerts too. One must understand that when an Accreditation Body has delisted Certification bodies, these delisted bodies go to other Accreditation Bodies for recognition . This practice should not be entertained by others. International Trade practices call for multiple international players operating in the market. It doesn't mean that country doesn't introduce checks and balances. We can't say that we are not responsible for other agencies operations in India . Our Regulators release fancy statements always sayinh : - in a Regulated Mkt, we only have mkt surveillance on licensed operators and not on others who operate without licenses So why do you need regulations then ? There is no market surveillance on Certification Agencies in the county. It's because ABs call CBs as their Customers 😂😂😂 https://lnkd.in/gNATpwAi

While the dedication to accreditation is admirable I can’t help thinking seven (if I’ve counted it right) separate safety ones is reflective of how bloated the market is. Seven sets of cost doing all the forms and gathering evidence. Seven membership fees to pay. All of which results in higher costs which need to be passed to the client and not spent on actual conservation work. Surely we can come up with one single system that demonstrates competence?
Reflecting on World Accreditation Day earlier this week, DBR is proud to showcase our suite of industry-approved accreditations. These accreditations display our dedication to fostering a safe, secure, ethical, and sustainable working environment. We strive for continual improvement and are committed to excellence in all we do. World Accreditation Day is a global initiative created by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and ILAC.
