🌿 Exciting news! Our ERASMUS KA2 Small Partnership Project, "Green Opportunity," is officially underway! On April 22, 2024, we had our first call with partners from Bulgaria (Branch Association Polymers and Get Involved Association) and Croatia (Udruga za savjetovanje MORE COACHING) to kick off this journey. Together, we're on a mission to introduce young people to the benefits of a circular economy and inspire action towards sustainability. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out engaging animated videos, toolkits, and social media challenges to spark change! 🌟 Project Overview: "Green Opportunity – Re-design the future" aims to champion the environmental benefits of embracing circular economy principles among our youth. By fostering awareness and action, we strive to reshape production and consumption paradigms, intertwining natural ecosystems with our daily lives and businesses while minimizing waste. 🌴 Contributing Towards Sustainable Education! 🌴 The 2023 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award, hosted by SEAMEO Secretariat, was an #enthralling competition in which international schools around the world showcased their efforts towards maintaining a #sustainable learning environment. 🏞️ Along with my partner, Jennifer, we showcased Tanarata International Schools' prowess in #educating students of all years about sustainability, as well as providing means to reduce their #carbon footprint on the planet. This project was titled "Green Synergy". Highlights include showcasing #aquaponic farms, #solar panels, and an exclusive interview with the founder of the school regarding the unique design of the campus. ☀️ Out of a staggering total of 115 schools who have participated globally, Tanarata International Schools was shortlisted for the prize - along with 8 others. 🔉(4-14 November 2023) Project Topic Environment and climate change Green skills European identity, citizenship, and values. Participants 6 1 participants from each country, gender- balanced, aged 17-30 (6 2 from Curacao, out of this 2, one leader and one facilitator). The project will gather 24 participants aged 17-30 years old, 4 team leaders, and one facilitator, a total of 29 persons. Project Goal The project’s goal is to help young people from Curacao, Holland, Spain, and Georgia become more aware of environmental issues and develop a mindset and actions that are mindful of the environment. This will enable them to contribute to the European Green Deal as responsible and active citizens. The objectives of the youth exchange are as follows: 1. Provide project participants with knowledge about the climate crisis and sustainability. This includes understanding the causes, consequences, and local and global impacts of the crisis. Participants will also learn about eco-friendly living, recycling, upcycling, and reducing their carbon footprint. 2. Educate participants about the European Green Deal and how reducing carbon footprint contributes to this policy initiative and the overall environment. 3. Help participants acquire practical skills to reduce their impact on the environment. This will involve exploring upcycling ideas and learning how to upcycle items through hands-on activities. 4. Empower participants to share the knowledge they gained during the project. It is an Irish outdoor clothing brand built on the principles of the circular economy. Their mission is to create technical outdoor gear using biobased and recycled materials. It started with them recycling end-of-life fishing materials like nets and grew from there. The first step on their expedition to the biological age is working with raw materials that support their vision to create bio based & renewable outdoor gear. The materials used include sugarcane, merion wool and organic cotton. Zirkulu provide a ‘take back programme’, meaning you can send back your old jacket for a discount. Zirkulu will then reuse any parts of the old jackets for new ones, and then send the rest to their recycling partner, who then recycles the old jacket into raw material, creating new yarn for future products. The Eco Summer Camp is an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and cross-generational sustainability week. Together with outstanding experts, participants will have the opportunity to discuss current global ecological and socio-economic challenges. We will explore sustainable strategies to tackle these challenges and ways to change our own habits.   The Eco Summer Camp is also a summer school. This gives our participants the opportunity to earn 4 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits.
