I've had the privilege of working with some truly great RPA developers. 🙏 I've met some that weren't too great, too. 😔 In my experience, a combination of technical skills and soft skills are key to being successful in this path. 💪 Here are the top competencies you need to be a rock star 🤘 RPA developer: Hard Skills: ✅ Scripting languages: Proficiency in the following scripting languages are extremely useful in a lot of RPA projects: SQL, PowerShell or VBscript, JavaScript and similar. Python, C# and VB.NET are also great. ✅ Web Services and APIs: Understanding how to utilize these powerful tools can take the solutions you deliver to the next level. ✅ Best practices: Understanding SDLCs, understanding user requirements, being familiar with ITIL, Agile methodologies and similar is usually very useful as well. ✅ Computer Science: At least a general understanding of how computers, networks and systems work is preferable, as it can help design and implement robust and efficient solutions. ✅ Regular expressions: RegEx is one of the most powerful tools an RPA developer can utilize in almost every project.
