The pale green Snapes, were ocean dwelling monsters, possessing large, powerful jaws, and vicious teeth. This, combined with an incredible turn of speed, made them formidable foes. Their red-tipped, snake-like tongue held numerous venom glands, each armed with a paralyzing agent. Once stung, poisoning was instantaneous, and its immobilised victims, were seized, briefly chewed, and then swallowed. Snapes were little more than unnecessarily, aggressive eating machines, striking and attempting to consume anything that moved. On particularly stormy nights, this might include the ocean itself, as they repeatedly attacked the storm-tossed waves. As day dawned, the ocean’s surface would be littered with the numerous floating carcases of these unfortunate creatures, drowned due to an excessive inhalation of brine. Their agile infants, turned into self-obsessed, and arrogant adolescents, who held a general distain for their increasingly resentful parents. With little or no show of gratitude or affection, the juveniles would skedaddle as soon as they were able. However, over-confidence was often their downfall, and when coming nose to nose with larger and more powerful beasts they’d usually succumb to a bloody and watery end, resulting in a heavily culled population.
