1wPeople seem to be living longer - well into retirement so, not surprisingly, we are dealing with a lot of cognitive decline. I took care of my mom who was diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s Disease not long after she’d been treated for breast cancer. I am an only child so I was her caregiver until she passed away (at home with me). Caring for dementia patients is exhausting and requires a lot of patience. Respite care and support groups are lifelines for families who are the primary caregivers.
