AI is arguably as good as a radiologist at reading reports, even if it can't think. I listened to a couple podcasts last night. One featured Andrew Ng and the other featured Geoffrey Hinton. In the first, Hinton discussed how AIs are basically as good at reading radiology reports as radiologists (https://lnkd.in/e3ppFeRq). There was also a discussion of the thinking/not thinking debate. In the second, Andrew Ng talked about how we are still 30 years from AGI and that those who claim AGI is close have narrower definitions than the original one: all human intellectual capabilities. (https://lnkd.in/e93SttQn) But I sort of fail to see how big of a difference there is. If it can read radiology reports as well as a doctor (and there are a growing # of studies that show this, and, as noted in the podcast, a lot of doctors believe it) and do other things as well or better than a human, then this will disrupt society a lot, even if AI can't "think."
