Abnormal Security is on a journey to “understand humans better than humans.” This was the goal for cofounders Evan Reiser and Sanjay Jeyakumar when they first created Abnormal in 2018, which now protects almost one-fifth of the Fortune 500. In a world where most successful social engineering and phishing attacks exploit email as a channel, the cofounders saw an opportunity to apply their tech to email security. Managing Director Stephen Ward recognized the team’s potential from their first meeting, “I wanted to show the scale of my commitment… so I jumped on a 6 a.m. flight from New Jersey to San Francisco and came in person. We were supposed to speak for an hour, but we spent three hours on the whiteboard working on the product roadmap.” Reiser admired Ward's chutzpah, he says. “It means a lot when someone is willing to make a six-hour trip to come and shake your hand.” But the Abnormal team isn't just focused on cybersecurity: “When your core focus is human behavior, the opportunity snowballs with the more platforms you protect. We’re just getting started. The best from Abnormal is yet to come.” Find out more about how Abnormal Security is working to protect humans with AI: https://lnkd.in/e7CGtMCs #startup #ScaleUp #founder

Great article from John Dwyer, Head of Research at IBM Security X-Force on the realities of new challenges AI is presenting. You want to find yourself able to take advantage of this grace period. Take a look at the article below: https://lnkd.in/gQPfQEpw "Private venture investment in AI exploded to $93.5 billion in 2021; the bad guys don't have that level of capital. They also don't have the manpower, computing power, and innovations that afford commercial companies or governments more time and opportunity to fail quickly, learn fast, and get it right first." What do you think?

The era of technology as a simple tool is over. AI is not just changing the game; it's rewriting the rules. Human-centric technology blurs the line between human and machine. But at what cost? We talk about enhanced interactions, yet overlook the erosion of human skills. Is convenience worth this trade-off? Security is now a battleground, not a checkbox. Cyber threats morph with each AI advancement. Are companies truly prepared, or are they standing on a digital fault line? The democratization of development through AI tools like Amazon CodeWhisperer and GitHub Copilot is hailed as progress. But is it innovation, or are we heading towards a creativity crisis with code? Extended reality steps out of the shadows of gaming into the business limelight. Yet, immersion vs. reality—the boundaries blur. Are we ready for the psychological consequences? As we adapt, the question isn't just about how to capitalize on these trends. It's about navigating the ethical minefield they present. Are we creating a future that enhances humanity, or are we sleepwalking into a dystopia masked as innovation? How do we balance the scales between technological advancements and the preservation of our core human values? #AI #tech #trends #innovation

As I understand it, there's a conflict between "slow and strategically cautious" and "fast and $$", with some corporate maneuvering and the usual Silicon Valley tech company silliness thrown in. I have no opinion either way. However, I think what should concern everyone in a decision-making capacity in the #cybersecurity industry is the sheer level of confusion and discombobulation around a key player in what is by far the most hyped area of technological and business innovation this year. You cannot swing a cat without hitting the #AI buzzword. This does not bode well for companies' #riskmanagement, when what both #criticalindustry participants as well as #SME firms need is dependable #technology rather than hype and chaos. Either way, it's kind of entertaining to watch from afar.
