Meet Lars Rindom Jensen, our Head of Solution Wind Blades who’s been in the wind power industry for almost 25 years.
💡 What does Lars think is top of mind for wind energy companies?
“The industry is under pressure to increase profitability throughout the value chain,” says Lars. “It’s a constant balance for renewable energy companies to secure efficient, optimal performance while minimising operational costs.”
One of the ways that wind energy companies can achieve greater efficiency, is to increase the service life and performance of wind turbine blades.
“Choosing the right protection can help operators maintain consistent production levels and reduce maintenance frequency, downtime and operational costs,” says Lars.
In this video, Lars introduces Hempablade, Hempel A/S’s full coating solution for blade manufacturing and leading edge protection (LEP) maintenance.
Hempablade is all about ‘Power of Less’: Better protection and performance with less material, waste and work.
To share our expertise on the critical role of LEP in wind turbine performance and to introduce Power of Less, Lars is hosting a webinar later this month, entitled: ‘Maximising Performance: Leading Edge Protection on wind turbine blades’.

Vestas secures 1,089 MW order with Pattern Energy Group in the USA – largest single onshore project to date globally!
The Vestas order will power a major portion of Pattern's SunZia Wind project in New Mexico, USA. It is Vestas’ largest order to date in the U.S. market and the largest single onshore project globally. Consisting of 242 V163-4.5 MW turbines, the 1.1 GW order is also the largest order globally for Vestas’ newest high-capacity factor turbine. Turbine delivery is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2025 with final commissioning scheduled for the first half of 2026.

‘ENERCON Quality’ and competitive products as drivers of success
ENERCON CCO Ulrich Schulze Südhoff as a panelist at the Turkish Wind Energy Congress
In the recovering global onshore wind markets ENERCON is relying on quality and competitive products. Today (8 November), ENERCON CCO Ulrich Schulze Südhoff reaffirmed this strategic orientation at the Turkish Wind Energy Congress (TWEC) in Istanbul. Schulze Südhoff took part in a panel discussion on the subject of ‘Advancing Turbine Technologies and the Turkish Market from a Global Perspective’.
‘“ENERCON Quality”, competitive wind turbines like the E-175 EP5, E-160 EP5 and E-138 EP3 as well as customer-oriented services set us apart from the competition and deliver clear added value to our customers’, the ENERCON CCO said during the event hosted by the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TWEA).
He said that the company’s focus was on platform-based, modular primary products that can be adapted at customer’s request to suit each project. This makes possible rapid time-to-market and series production ramp-up and also contributes to cost reduction and more stable supply chains. ‘We ensure “ENERCON Quality” through close cooperation with our development and vendor partners and through early involvement of our customers and service providers. Add to this meticulous site assessment and wind farm layout, active risk management and the courage to say no once in a while’, Schulze Südhoff explained. ‘“ENERCON Quality” and competitive products are crucial to us. They are our success factors in times of recovery.’

In his latest technical article, Saurabh Gunecha explores the issue of wake losses in offshore wind.
A wake is a cylinder of air downwind of a turbine in which the wind speed is reduced because of the wind energy that has been extracted by the turbine and the loss of energy generation downstream due to this effect is collectively referred to as wake losses.
Wake losses in an offshore wind farm can significantly impact energy production so understanding and addressing wake losses is crucial for maximising the efficiency and economic viability of offshore wind farms.
