Congratulations Katharina Haas on winning the #FemaleStartAperitivo
Yesterday, our co-founder Katharina took part in the #FemaleStartAperitivo finals organized by Hamburg Investors Network! As one of 10 female founders from all over Germany, she pitched the business model around our ultra-fast laser beam steering system - and #won! 🏆
We are thrilled that our INLEAP® FASTLIGHT® technology is receiving so much appreciation and interest. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity, the connections we've made during the event and everyone who voted for us yesterday! It was a great time listening to fantastic pitches and having inspiring exchanges with other female founders. We wish you all continued success! 🚀
Special thanks to the entire team around Christoph Steckhan, including Katerini Tsintsaris and Katerina Ida Bychkov, who moderated the evening. Also, a huge thank you to the jury and Christoph Kober for the interesting impulses.

Veridian Ventures Partner Dan Schonfeld recently had the privilege of participating in a panel discussion on structuring and growing Angel Syndicates, as part of the UK Business Angels Association’s recent Angel Group Symposium, held in London on April 16th.
The discussion was both engaging and informative, and the audience contributed some great questions and insights.
𝐃𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬:
1) The UK angel investment ecosystem is vibrant and active, despite recent market conditions and regulatory actions.
2) The UKBAA is playing a key role in organising and mobilising angel investment activities, and has been quite successful in making sure our view as a community are heard and taken into account by the government, as evidenced in the recent decision to reverse the changes to investor certification criteria.
3) There is wide agreement in the community that government policy is both confusing and contradictory, trying to encourage angel investing on the one hand while at the same time driving the market – almost forcibly – towards consolidation, in a way which makes it harder for new angels and new angel syndicates to thrive.
4) There is growing involvement by angels based outside of the traditional areas of London and the South-East.
5) The ecosystem is also increasingly professionalising, with growing use of technology to streamline operations and processes.
6) There is a growing number of options for anyone who wants to start angel investing, based on region, gender, sector focus and more – there have never been more opportunities.
7) There is significant benefit for an individual to invest via a syndicate as opposed to on their own, in terms of deal flow, access to opportunities, professional support and education, and higher quality due diligence.
"My thanks again to the UKBAA for the invitation and for organising such an excellent event, to my fellow panellists for such an enjoyable discussion, and to the audience for their time, attention, and valuable contributions."
Looking forward to the next one!

🏛️ Leaning on Old Greece, we set up an Agora discussion during tomorrow's Spinoff Summit. Everyone will be able to share their opinions and ideas for the future. The Open Dialogue Between VCs and TTOs is supposed to bridge the worlds of academia and business to create a spinoff ecosystem where founders and scientists can thrive.
We are excited that tech media veteran Wolfgang Kerler will host the Agora discussion, trying to shed light on all angles. Wolfgang is editor-in-chief of 1E9, creating optimistic journalism about future technologies and innovations and developing a new kind of tech journalism - journalism created together with the tech community. 1E9 hosts its annual Festival der Zukunft in Munich, which gathers scientists, entrepreneurs, and everyone interested in using tech to build a better future. Before 1E9, Wolfgang was a Burns Fellow at The Verge, a Vox Media brand in New York, and Editorial Director of WIRED Germany.
🔥 We are thrilled to announce that tickets for this year's Spinoff Summit have been completely sold out, a testament to the high interest and anticipation for the event. Stay tuned under #SpinoffSummit2024 for the exciting event to unfold!
