📣🗣️ Thank you Antonia Forster for an inspiring and entertaining key note on the #GenderGap in #Tech; presented for Capgemini & Sogeti's International Women's Day this morning. I am paraphrasing as I was quickly jotting down Antonia's words that left me feeling inspired but the message was this: "When hiring someone, be careful when asking yourself whether someone is a 'culture fit.' What does a 'fit' mean? Consider hiring someone who challenges the current organisational culture!" If there is one message to take away from #IWD it is that positive changes require intentional effort. This needs to happen at any stage of the hiring process but also after you have gotten your team together. Naturally, building diverse and inclusive teams goes beyond gender bias. Are your teams inclusive for those with disabilities? Are people free to be who they are and deliver amazing work? May this be your signal to hire someone who is different from your 'work culture fit' and see what magic happens.
