This announcement triggers the greatest sense of achievement of my time at #InfiniteOrbits in all possible ways. when Infinite Orbits settled in Toulouse, its International DNA separated it from the establishement. Without a pedigree of French Diplomas, nor nationally famous advisors, the succes was only through facts and #Demonstration in a proper #Newspace fashion (OrbitGuard1 launched April 23 in GEO). Barely any European company has been able to be both commercially viable and enter the risky #Inorbitservice market. Tomorrow, the reference of commercial In space activities may not be US nor multinational company, but an international initiative led by the most brilliant people I met, Akshay Gulati, Manos Koumandakis, Adel Haddoud. Undeniably the #France2030 programme, with support of CNES has successfully achieved to attract international talent, growth and capital in France 🇫🇷 with clear commercial export results. I'm glad to have contributed to the success of IO and have taken the challenge of joining a team of 5 in 2022. Not the least, binding with international partners LMO, Nurjana Technologies Lambda-X High-Tech, Vyoma,Dawn Aerospace Politecnico di Milano Telespazio France Deimos Engenharia ARIANESPACE AVS Added Value Solutions Safran in no less than 3 fantastic projects for the European Commission Unfortunately I had to focus also on the growth of my young family and couldn't do all assignments in parallel :-), leaving Marion Andrieux by far the most talented, to orchestrate the difficult phase of #Execution

Even more navigation satellites made by #OHB! 😎 OHB System AG has been selected as the main partner of Spanish space company GMV for the development and assembly of four satellites and the associated payloads for the #LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit - Positioning Navigation Timing) #navigation satellite programme. 🛰 The contract between European Space Agency - ESA and GMV was signed this week in #Paris. OHB is working on this mission as a subcontractor to GMV: OHB’s share of the total contract is valued at around EUR 38 million. OHB is contributing to the LEO-PNT programme the expertise that it gained from the European #Galileo navigation satellite programme. LEO-PNT is an in-orbit demonstration mission, as various parameters are to be tested during this mission.

The #Vega launcher is gearing up for a comeback early September ! Its passenger, the Sentinel-2C satellite, has now started its maritime journey towards the European Spaceport in French Guiana! 🛰️ Built by Airbus Defence and Space, the Sentinel-2C satellite is part of #Copernicus, the Earth observation component of the European Union’s Space programme. Another launch (a Vega C launch) will follow a few months after to complete the Copernicus family (stay tuned 😉 !). ⛵️Placed onto the iconic #Canopée, the first sail-assisted cargo ship pioneering environmental responsibility in industrial shipping, Sentinel 2C is set to arrive in Kourou, French Guiana, in two weeks. #Arianespace will deploy the satellite into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The VV24 mission is scheduled for September. The last #Ariane5 rocket was launched on 5th July. It marks the end of an era. Its successor, the #Ariane6 will make its debut in 2024, if everything goes according to plan. This means that in the meantime, Europe is out of launch vehicles and there is no possibility of launching satellites into #space, i.e. the planned #IRISS constellation coming soon.   Therefore, I asked the Commission during a hearing how they are planning to resolve this issue. The answer: microlauncher! Catherine KAVVADA confirmed that the EU institutions recognise the need to act swiftly to give Europe independent access to space, and is convinced that #microlaunchers will play an essential role in the realisation of EU space projects in the near future. #EUspace #spacenews #nienass #microlauncher #satellite

Airbus-built THEOS-2 Earth observation #satellite has been successfully launched on a Vega rocket from Kourou, Europe’s spaceport in French Guiana. The Geo-Informatics and Space #Technology Development Agency of #Thailand (GISTDA) selected Airbus as partner for its next-generation national geo-information system in 2018. Jean-Marc Nasr, Head of Space Systems at #Airbus, said: “This successful launch of THEOS-2, with its 50cm imagery, confirms Thailand’s position in the small circle of nations with sovereign access to high resolution geostrategic information. We will continue to support GISTDA’s ambitions to establish an all-encompassing geo-information system for the benefit of the Kingdom of Thailand.” The images from #THEOS-2 programme will be key for GISTDA’s future Thai Earth observation system which will be used for supporting various aspects. 🚀 Keeping track of Ariane 6! 📡 #DidYouKnow that ESA ground stations will track the debut flight of Europe’s new #Ariane6 rocket? Located respectively in the Azores and in West Australia, the Santa Maria and New Norcia stations will monitor key phases of the flight, such as active thrust and payload separation. The gathered telemetry and video will be used to analyse the flight, ensure safety on the ground and optimise future launches, making them even more precise and reliable. The two ESA ground stations belong to the #Estrack network of deep-space antennas, that are developed, maintained and upgraded at #ESOC, in cooperation with European industry. In the case of launches, it is not the main antennas that are not used, as they are better to operate more distant spacecrafts, but side ones which offer a complement to the Ariane launcher tracking station network — operated by the French space agency, CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales). “We have been hard at work preparing Santa Maria and New Norcia for the first Ariane 6 launch,” says Gerhard Billig, Launcher Tracking Service Manager.
