Late last week, Sam Wade from the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas shared a compelling piece on why states across the U.S. should emulate California's success with #renewablenaturalgas (#RNG). We strongly advocate for increased public education on the benefits of RNG and encourage more states to integrate RNG into their clean energy strategies. Let's continue to harness the power of RNG to drive a sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/gpAXm2it

Six months ago - at the #COP28 summit in Dubai – the governments of nearly 200 countries agreed on a commitment to triple the world’s renewable energy capacity by the year 2030. Rapidly ramping up #renewables is seen as vital for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and limiting the negative impacts of climate change. Today (4 June 2024) the International Energy Agency (IEA) has issued an important report looking at different countries’ plans and policies for expanding renewable energy capacity. According to this report, governments around the world are planning to install an additional 8,000 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030. This represents 70% of what is needed to reach the goal agreed in Dubai. The message from the #IEA is very clear: all countries will have to increase their ambitions for expanding renewables and accelerate the implementation of their plans, in order to meet the COP28 target. The COGEN World Coalition welcomes today’s report from the IEA. We are convinced that #cogeneration (also known as #CHP – Combined Heat and Power) has a central role to play in making the most efficient use of renewable fuels including #biomass, #biogas and #biomethane (#RNG), as well as clean #hydrogen. Furthermore, flexible cogeneration plants can complement and support the expansion of other renewables such as #solar (PV) and #wind, by providing a reliable back-up source of #electricity and heat that can be called upon as needed. The COGEN World Coalition brings leading manufacturers together with national and regional associations from around the globe: Gruppo AB - Energy Sustainability | The Advanced Cogeneration and Energy Utilization Center of Japan (ACEJ) | ACOGEN Asociación Española de Cogeneración | ADDINOL Lube Oil GmbH | The Association for Decentralised Energy | Baker Hughes | Bundesverband Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung (B.KWK) e.V. | Caterpillar Inc. | Combined Heat and Power Alliance | Clarke Energy | COGEN Europe | COGEN España | COGEN - Associação da Indústria de Cogeração de Energia | Cogeneration Association of India | Cogenera México A.C. | COGEN Portugal | Türkiye Kojenerasyon Derneği | INNIO Group | Italcogen ANIMA | Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. | KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH | 2G Energy AG
Countries worldwide have a major opportunity to set stronger plans for achieving the global goal of tripling renewable power by 2030 Our new report shows stepping up ambition & implementation is vital to get in line with the target agreed at COP28 Read the key findings ➡️ https://iea.li/3X34J8k Explore the full analysis ➡️ https://iea.li/45gqWll
