Research key in developing Namibia’s oil and gas sector – NCRST The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) says there is a critical need to bolster research and development (R&D) capabilities, especially in the context of the burgeoning oil and gas sector. 🇮🇱🛢️ London-based oil and gas company Energean is poised to secure a 30-year production license for a gas-rich area off the coast of Israel following significant discoveries in 2022. These findings, named the Katlan reservoirs, promise substantial gas resources, prompting plans for phased development. 💰🚀 With a final investment decision expected this year, Energean anticipates a production boost, up from the current 6.5bcm/yr to 8bcm/yr, extending the gas production plateau and eyeing export opportunities. The project will utilise existing infrastructure, tying back to the FPSO Energean Power, which has undergone enhancements to accommodate increased capacity. 🌊⚡ Energean's expansion extends beyond Israel, with recent partnerships in Morocco signalling its growing Mediterranean presence. This strategic growth aligns with Energean's vision to meet regional gas demand while advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Congo's Marine XII would be the first project in the region to export natural gas according to its operator Eni as readiness for completion is on the way. The project is being expanded and targeted to produce from 1.9 to 3.0 MTPA of LNG. This is the second FLNG for Congo with the first been Tango FLNG (capacity of 0.6 MTPA and also operated by Eni), with LNG production scheduled to start in December 2023. In late October 2023, Congo celebrated the sail away of the Tango FLNG (link: https://lnkd.in/eR3WNA7b) The Congo LNG project leverages Marine XII gas resources and existing production facilities in a new, phased approach that will allow to reach approximately 4.5 BCMA of gas liquefaction capacity at plateau, as well as zero routine gas flaring. A second FLNG vessel with a capacity of approximately 3.5 BCMA of gas is under construction and will begin production in 2025. #MilestoneMoment - A befitting cap for 2023 - Tango FLNG receives first gas Oil and Gas Giant Eni has achieved the introduction of gas into the Tango Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility moored in Congolese waters late last year - This was achieved just 12 months after taking FID on the Congo LNG project. Following completion of the commissioning phase, Tango FLNG will produce its first LNG cargo by the first quarter of 2024, placing the Republic of Congo on the list of LNG-producing countries. The Tango FLNG facility has a liquefaction capacity of about 1 billion cubic meters per year (BCMA) and is moored alongside the Excalibur Floating Storage Unit (FSU), using an innovative configuration called "split mooring," implemented here for the first time in a floating LNG terminal. Congo LNG will monetize gas resources from the Marine XII permit and reach around 4.5 bcm/yr of plateau gas liquefaction capacity under a phased development, with a target of zero routine gas flaring. A second FLNG facility with a capacity of about 3.5 BCMA is currently under construction and will begin production in 2025.
