PIF-Backed Dussur and Baker Hughes Unveil Chemicals & Industrial Materials Facility in Jubail. RIYADH: In a landmark collaboration, the Saudi Arabian Industrial Investments Co., known as Dussur, and Baker Hughes inaugurated an advanced oilfield services and industrial chemicals factory in Jubail. The Saudi Petrolite Chemicals factory aims to bolster the Kingdom's raw material supply chain, producing essential solvents and glycols. With a focus on nurturing local talent, the facility aims to elevate manufacturing capabilities and contribute to localization efforts, expediting the delivery of crucial chemical solutions. Attended by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih, and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, the grand opening ceremony underscored the strategic importance of the project. Spanning 90,000 sq. m, the facility features state-of-the-art infrastructure including an on-site quality control laboratory, ethylene oxide, and propylene oxide pipelines, along with 14 storage tanks. Established through a joint venture between PIF-backed Dussur and Texas-based Baker Hughes, the project, with Baker Hughes holding a 51 percent stake, exemplifies a commitment to local value creation. Raed Al-Rayes, CEO of Dussur, emphasized the project's role in advancing the Kingdom's industrial landscape, foreseeing significant career opportunities for Saudi nationals, with a target nationalization rate exceeding 70 percent. From delving into the intricacies of Oil and Gas Reservoirs, Refining Process Fundamentals, Gas Processing Thermodynamics, to mastering the Physics of Heat and Temperature, Fired Heater Operations, Analyzer Technology, and more, the learning journey has been incredible. These comprehensive courses have equipped me with a deeper understanding of the processes that drive our operations after the successful commissioning. The insights gained from courses on Storage Tanks, Process Safety, Environmental Issues, and Pollution Controls underscore the significance of responsible and sustainable practices in our operations. As an aspiring process/operation engineer, this knowledge will undoubtedly guide me in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and environmental integrity of our processes. Moreover, the Electrical Fundamentals course has broadened my horizons, enhancing my ability to comprehend the intricate electrical systems that power our operations. This holistic approach to learning will empower me to contribute more effectively to the success of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals. My Personal Story: I’ve been thinking about this for weeks on end, the resounding question, what next after #NYSC. I’m a Petroleum Engineering graduate with a 4.87 CGPA, proficient in optimizing petroleum engineering software like Petrel and Ecrin. I was one of the 99 students around the world that was handpicked for International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) and one of the 9 students chosen to represent Nigeria in Saudi Arabia 2020. I had a 5.0 GPA for 6 semesters in university. I was Top 1% if anything, valedictorian, best graduating student. Right now my awards and certifications are collecting dust. This isn’t a sob story, I’m not suffering financially, in fact I’d say I’m a 7 figure professional by Nigerian standard. It’s just my Petroleum Engineering dreams and aspirations that I had as a 15 year old entering Igbinedion University, Okada for the first time. I really wish I could make that 15 year old girls dreams come true, I hope I can call myself a seasoned oil and gas professional one day. Until then, I’m happy I’m learning new skills, getting into #artificialintelligence and #crmstrategy would be a plus for me anywhere. Besides I’m just 22. I definitely still have time.
