Dr Yaar Muhammad Department of Education GCWUS Qualitative Inquiry: Bridging the Divide Between Science and Art. We, as researchers, frequently conceive of science and art as belonging to separate domains; science being the realm of objectivity, empiricism, and hard data, and art being the sphere of subjectivity, interpretation, and creative expression. Yet, qualitative research has the potential to challenge this dichotomy and uncover the indistinct boundary and paradoxical collaborations between science and art order. In disrupting the science-art binary, qualitative inquiry opens up generative spaces for different ways of knowing. It invites us to bring our whole selves to the research process, to embrace ambiguity and paradox, and to find meaning at the nexus of systematic empiricism and creative interpretation. As qualitative researchers, let us celebrate the ways our work spans the realms of both science and art, and harness this productive liminality in the service of deeper understanding. Thoughts?
