Motivation is key to success! I recently came across one of the best motivational speeches ever and it's my go-to whenever I need a "pick me up." It's still as impactful as the first time I heard it, even after meeting 2 Medal of Honor recipients and a Navy Cross recipient. Check out the link to listen and get inspired! #Motivation #SuccessTips

Prioritization Challenges in the Medical Device Industry As a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, my thesis advisor, Dr. Larry Thompson, taught me a valuable saying that has proven helpful throughout my career: "If everything is equally important, then nothing is important." Years later, this saying often comes to mind when talking with medical device companies with multiple product opportunities and not enough cash to fund all of them. In the world of medical devices, innovative ideas often harbor multiple clinical applications. The journey from conception to regulatory approval can be arduous. Yet, once armed with a breakthrough product, companies find themselves at a crossroads – where should they focus their launch efforts? How should they allocate resources towards developing evidence and engaging key opinion leaders? The answers to these questions can significantly impact the trajectory of a company's success. Read Dr. Tony Allen's response to Elon Musk's recent remarks on HBCUs and aviation graduates, particularly those at Delaware State University. 📝 In a letter to the DSU community, President Tony Allen addressed the disparaging comments, emphasizing the rich legacy of HBCUs, their vital role in shaping the Black middle class, and their contributions to various fields. 🛫 Despite historical challenges, Black aviators have excelled, breaking barriers and achieving success by meeting the same rigorous standards set by the FAA. DSU, home to the Tuskegee Airmen during WWII, continues this legacy by producing more qualified pilots of color than any other institution. 🎓 HBCUs have been instrumental in empowering students of color, contributing significantly to professionals in science, technology, law, and medicine. President Allen highlights the immense impact of HBCUs on the American economy, despite systemic underfunding and pervasive racist narratives. 🌐 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. words echo in urging us to think incisively, to distinguish truth from falsehood, and to uphold the goal of education – intelligence, and character. 🚀 In a country built on equal opportunity, we must not let misleading narratives tarnish the treasure of diverse talents. Join President Tony Allen in rising above the fray, reflecting on our values, and actively participating in shaping a brighter future. #HBCU #Education #Equality #Opportunity #DSU #TonyAllen #ElonMusk #Aviation #Leadership

Top 10 Lessons I learned navigating the maze of Naval's wisdom compiled in the book, The Almanac of Naval Ravikant: Forget the shortcuts, The real map to success lies in introspection, not instant gratification. That's the truth bomb I dropped on myself after a deep dive into Naval Ravikant's wisdom nuggets. Here are 10 gems that reshaped my compass: "Build wealth, not assets." Forget the hamster wheel chase for "things." Invest in skills, networks, and ideas that compound. "Think for yourself. Question all dogma." Blindly following trends leaves you vulnerable. Cultivate independent thinking and critical analysis. "Become indispensable. Build leverage." Forget "working hard." Focus on creating unique value that makes you irreplaceable. "Happiness is freedom from desire." Stop chasing external validation. Find joy in the present moment, unattached to expectations. "Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world." Small, consistent actions yield massive long-term results. Patience is the new superpower. "Learn to say no." Your time is your most valuable asset. Guard it fiercely and prioritize ruthlessly. "Seek compounders, not celebrities." Surround yourself with people who elevate you, not just entertain you. "Focus on the long game. Play for the future." Short-term wins are fleeting. Think decades, not quarters. "Be a builder, not a consumer." Create, contribute, leave a legacy. Don't just passively watch the world unfold. "The best investment you can make is in yourself." Continuously learn, grow, and refine your skills. You are your best asset. Bonus point: "No one can compete with you on being you." Most of life is a search for who and what needs you the most. Naval's quotes are like mental vitamins, jolting you awake to the reality of building a meaningful life. What lessons have you gleaned from his words? I am happy to share my work to date as a researcher in the LACElab at North Carolina State University. The opportunity to conduct field research with cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point during summer training exercises allowed me to see firsthand the practical applications of artificial intelligence and human factors. A description of my work this summer can be found in the link below from the Carolina Digital Repository. More to follow as I continue my work on this study!
