☔ Did you know the Cultural Trail plays a significant role in managing Indianapolis’ rainwater? Stormwater planters, also called rain gardens or bioswales, are a type of green infrastructure that helps manage rainwater. 💧 Rather than flowing through the drains you see along sidewalk curbs, water is instead directed into these sunken plant beds. Once in the plant bed, it slowly drains into the soil. The plants and soil then act as a cleaning system, filtering out sediment, chemicals and trash. 💪 Maintaining the Cultural Trail's 83 individual stormwater planters is no small feat! Will you support this critical work with a donation today? Make a gift: https://lnkd.in/gAXXTCqA #theheartofindy #greeninfrastructure #ecofriendly #indianapolis #downtownindianapolis #urbantrail #linearpark

We need wildfire reform and better forest management practices in BC. The McDougall Creek fire did not need to happen; excess red tape & bureaucracy, unwillingness to work with local experts, and mismanagement is what caused the fire to get out of control. Wildfires need to be put out rapidly and forests need to be managed effectively. An incredible group of locals, including several Registered Professional Foresters, are looking to make a documentary highlighting how we can turn the dial and bring health and prosperity back to our forest and prevent wildfires from devastating our province. It's about the environment, preservation, sustainability, and even economic stability. For our forests, and for our future. Please watch this trailer and consider donating to make this vision a reality! https://lnkd.in/gzUs6EWu

#Wildlifecrossings “ In the U.S., there are currently more than 1,000 wildlife crossings and counting, largely thanks to a recent influx of federal, private and philanthropic funds. So far, data shows they are highly effective; one study found that crossings on Highway 9 through the Blue River Valley in Colorado reduced wildlife-vehicle collisions by nearly 90 percent. These structures can be expensive to build, costing between $500,000 and $6 million, but recent research suggests that the money saved by avoiding crashes recoups the costs in just a few years, along with potentially saving lives. ” https://lnkd.in/eTAP5mB9

🌳 Make a Spring Donation: Support Tree Planting Along the Tanque Verde🌳 As spring unfolds across the Sonoran Desert, buoyed by generous winter rains, we at WMG are dedicated to cooling our cities through natural restoration and strategic planting. Our efforts are possible thanks to the generous support of our community, and this spring, we're embarking on an ambitious goal to raise $125,000 for our green infrastructure projects and educational programs. A generous donor has stepped forward with a $25,000 matching gift, offering a unique opportunity: your donation will be doubled, amplifying your impact. This season, our focus includes a novel restoration technique known as "pole planting." By using cuttings from native trees like willows and cottonwoods, we're enriching riparian zones along the Tanque Verde Creek, building upon our successes in the Cienega Creek watershed. These efforts are vital for creating cooling green infrastructure that's sustained by our precious rainwater. Your support fuels these initiatives. The River Run Network program, a cornerstone of our community engagement and restoration efforts, relies on donations. By investing in WMG, you're ensuring the continuation of vital work that cools our urban environments, conserves water, and nurtures local ecosystems. Join us this spring in a concerted effort to rejuvenate and protect our local watersheds. Our calendar is full of community events, classes, and projects of all kinds. Together, we can foster a cooler, greener, and more sustainable desert city. We’re thrilled to announce our third year participating in IMPACT TOGETHER: The Colorado River Basin Project! As the ongoing drought continues to affect the primary water sources in the Colorado River Basin area, we’re facing the growing reality that these water supplies are no longer stable and need our help. At Avista, we are committed to increasing water resilience and helping our customers deliver a positive water impact on their sustainability targets. Over the past two years, Kurita, our parent company, donated $40,000 to this initiative. This year, they hope to donate $30,000! 🌊 Andel Poland supports community affected by floods in Silesia 🌊 At Andel, we believe that our mission goes far deeper than providing the best products and services. We are proud to support local communities, especially during challenging times. Recent floods in Silesia have affected thousands of people, destroying homes, infrastructure and forcing many to evacuate. With a crisis of this magnitude, any help is of great value. 🏠🚧💧 Our team organized the collection of donations, including food, clothing and cleaning supplies, which went to those most in need. Thanks to the commitment of the entire team, an impressive number of gifts have been collected and have already gone to the affected. 🎁👕🍲 As well Andel as a company supported Polish Red Cross foundation with donation. 🤝 Life in Andel is not only work, but also community and support. 🤝 Every day our employees and Board show that Andel is more than just a place to work.
