⚙️ Functionality vs Maintainability 🛠️ Why is this seen as a compromise? It goes without saying that the best design is one that is functional and can be easily maintained periodically to ensure continued optimal functioning. That’s right, it’s a cycle. ♻️ Quiet often desingers are only focussed on the function, construction contractors pay attention to making it workable, and by the time the operations crew are on board they realize it cannot be maintained. Here at the DIYAR Pumping Station, we were involved right from the design to build and now in operations, thankfully allowing for well allocated provision for efficient maintenance. Note: the cost involved in repair can many a times exceed the actual build value. As good engineers it’s always the best practice to keep this in mind. ✍️What Is The Mean Of Blank Stage (Centrifugal Pump)‼️ ⭕️According To "API 6️⃣1️⃣0️⃣" 🖍Pumps shall be capable of at least a 5 % head increase at rated conditions by replacement of the impeller(s) with one(s) of larger diameter or different hydraulic design, variable-speed capability or use of a blank stage. ⭕️So what does "blank stage" mean here❓️ 🖍The API is referring to a multistage pump with one stage a "blank" stage. This means that an extra stage is provided for in the original design, but with no impeller installed.
