Safe Streets are a Critical Issue for Residents of Chicago and Employees of our many businesses. Crime statistics like the ones seen in Chicago over the 4th of July Holiday (109 people shot, 19 fatalities) should not be commonplace and erode the safety that each resident should be afforded regardless of where they live. The Illinois Chamber applauds the many corporations and philanthropists that came together today to be part of the solution to a complex problem. "There is much work to do, but this is a strong start and it shows that the State's business community is committed to solutions on this critical issue," said Lou Sandoval President, of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. Gov JB Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, and President Don Harmon joined leaders from Northern Trust, McDonald's, Allstate, Ulta Beauty, and many others to announce the $100M investment in violence reduction. #SafeCommunities #CVI #ILChamber #VoiceofIllinoisBusiness Bloomberg / Crain's Chicago Business /Chicago Tribune/ Chicago Sun-Times https://lnkd.in/gjXGQ_V2

This is why @Center for Policing Equity works to protect, empower, and support Black and Brown communities to redesign their public safety systems and produce better policing outcomes. Start the inquiry!!
Commissioner, Former CA State Assembly Candidate, Ret Sgt-Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept., Chairman- Crime Survivors Inc.
Let this sink in, Newsom just appointed a pro-abortion extremist and major Democratic fundraiser, who is registered to vote in Maryland, to fill Feinstein’s seat in California. So, a Non-California resident has been APPOINTED (not elected) to serve on a California seat. Am I the only person that has a problem with this BS?

My campaign has been hard at work knocking, listening, and responding to constituents since filing for this May's primary election, we're excited to invite anyone who is local to our re-election kickoff. www.benforlou.com/re-elect Tuesday, February 20th | 6:00-8:00 PM Great Flood Brewery - Highlands 2120 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40205 If we want our politics to work, we have to work our politics. Thanks for being part of our team! We'll celebrate everything we've accomplished so far, go over our organizing plan for the spring, and make an announcement about our You for Lou Fellows Some FAQs: Wait, another election?! Didn't you just win... by a lot? Yep! That was a special election to fill the remainder of the current term. Our district sure loves to vote: we had almost 3x the voters of the next closest district, and won over 80% of the vote (more than any candidate except Gov. Beshear!) But that's exactly why we need to turn voters out for the contested primary on May 21st. How can I help? Lots of people aren't aware there's a primary in May. We've got good momentum from the fall, but to build our team, get our message out, and hire/train new organizers (more below), we need your help to raise money and knock doors. Donate. Volunteer. Put up a Yard Sign. Host an Event. So much of this campaign is about giving people the tools to make an impact on their community and democracy. Let's do that together.

Something has to be done.
The issue of gun violence hit devastatingly close to home earlier this week when a PECO employee was struck by a stray bullet while on the job in Philadelphia. We are very fortunate that our colleague was quickly released from the hospital and is recovering, but I’d be remiss not to acknowledge that this incident is only one of many that have become far too common in our region. While no one person or organization can solve this issue alone, I find comfort in knowing that at PECO we are working hard to help mitigate paths to ongoing violence and incarceration through our workforce development and community engagement efforts, which are proven to make a difference. Collaboration is also a vital part of making a greater impact and that is a key priority in my role as Board Chair of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia and PECO’s support of the Civic Coalition to Save Lives, a group of businesses, civic, and philanthropic organizations that are working to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia. We owe it to future generations to act now - learn more about the Civic Coalition to Save Lives. https://lnkd.in/ep9fnGhE
