[INTERVIEW SERIES] Last week, we sat down with our Vice President of Operations, Eduardo (Ed) Szmurlo, P.E. , MBA, Assoc. DBIA, in the Princeton office, to listen in on his career journey and what led him to IH! We got to hear about his time working for engineering firms in Qatar and India, and got insights on some neat Civil Engineering projects that Ed has worked on - including designing a bridge for camels! We learned about Ed's role within IH, managing the day-to-day operations of projects in the transportation field ranging from roadway and drainage design to bridge design. Ed came to IH with a unique perspective, after leading and managing the technical design efforts and the project delivery process for Louis Berger Group, Inc. for over 20 years prior to joining IH. Thank you Dennis Helmstetter, PE for hosting our interview with Ed, and to everyone who joined in person and virtually!

One of the key philosophies at ABI Civil is "Self - Performance" - which has become a bit unfashionable over the years, so we asked Chat GPT to explain the benefits, just to check our assumptions. It's a good response, worth the read, but we would add "the chance to be part of something special that starts as a crew, project team or office and becomes a big family". Yep, we might be called a bit old school, and by no means is it the easy path, but we do it because that's how we want to achieve sustained success in this ever-changing industry. If you are a Civil Engineer that shares construction self-performance as a core value, we want to talk to you about taking your career to the next level to become a key person at ABI Civil - managing real people with real skills to deliver great results for our clients. Go to our website or message us on Linked In to start the conversation about your career.

🌟 Excited to Share My Recent Achievement! 🌟 I am thrilled to announce that I have completed the John Holland Australia Civil Engineering Job Simulation. During this simulation, I had the opportunity to: * Work on a variety of construction tasks, including a new bridge, high-rise, and rail projects. * Calculate the volumes of concrete for pile caps and abutments for a bridge and compare subcontractor rates. * Analyze and compare building drawings to identify differences and organize tasks in the correct sequence. * Review the placement of CCTV cameras at an island stop to ensure all safety requirements were met. This experience has significantly enhanced my skills in civil engineering, project management, and construction management. #CivilEngineering #Construction #ProjectManagement #ProfessionalDevelopment #JohnHolland #Forage
