🧠 What did you learn last week? #Reflecting on an insightful and eye-opening #LearningWeek in #Uganda! Last week marked the #third edition of the LAND-at-scale Exchange where all our partners come together to exchange on lessons learned, overlapping strategies, and to build their global network. This year the week's theme was #partnerships 🤝 The week kicked off with over 55 old & new faces coming together in Kampala with a warm welcome from our hosts Global Land Tool Network and Uganda Community Based Association for Women and Children Welfare (UCOBAC). Our new project partners from Burundi, Egypt, and Iraq joined us for the first time and presented their projects. Quickly, links were made to exchange with other projects, such as Colombia and Egypt as combination-countries working on aid & trade, and Somalia and Iraq working on the Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM). Soon after we departed to Butaleja, where the next day we visited multiple stakeholders with learning questions ready to be explored: 👨👨👧👦 Beneficiaries of Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCOs) 🌾 Wetland management committee 🗣 Sub-County Area Land Committee and mediation committee 🖥 National Land Information System 🏢 Government district officials We learned how the project works on strengthening #women's right to land, how secure land rights has increased #foodsecurity for families, how mediation committee's are trained to provide #fair judgements before conflicts are submitted to lengthy court cases, how #STDM is operationalised and used, and #government ambitions. 📌 The exchange was combined with a broader conference co-organised by Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development , Netherlands Enterprise Agency (LAS), International Land Coalition, and national land coalition nlc uganda which brought partnerships between government and civil society in the land governance sector to front of stage. The conference was officially openened by the Honourable Vice-President of Uganda, the Honourable Minister of the co-organising Ministry, the Dutch Ambassador of Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda, the Director of the International Land Coalition, and national land coalition nlc uganda. The next two days were used to exchange with a parallel field visit organised by to a forest community, listen to inspiring key note speakers, and attend a diversity of break-out sessions on topics such as collaborative climate smart land use planning, sustainable financing, and gender transformative approaches. Once again, a big thank you to our hosts and fantastic partners!
