The IFAD Annual Report 2023 highlights significant investments and impact in Asia and the Pacific. IFAD invested US$2,431.8 million in ongoing projects and approved US$92.3 million in new financing. Our efforts span 49 programmes across 18 countries, reaching over 4 million people, enhancing productivity, market access, and climate resilience.

📊 Data-Driven Voluntary National Reviews 🚀An Opportunity to Strengthen National Statistical Systems for Better SDG Reporting 💡 A Voluntary National Review (VNR) is a progress report for the SDGs, showcasing achievements, addressing challenges, and highlighting lessons learned. 🇰🇪 Festus Wangwe, Director of Planning from the Ministry of Planning and National Development of Kenya, emphasizes a key element in the VNR process: "You need to identify the key stakeholders that are going to be involved in this process and what information these key stakeholders will give you." This collaboration with Kenya was made possible thanks to funding from the European Commission. 📹

Identifying competitive advantage of the municipalities is a good start to initiate the Local Economic Development (LED). I am thankful to Mesopartner and Christian Schoen for introducing me to Participatory Appraisal for Competitive Advantage (PACA) a pragmatic, inclusive LED tool among others. In Nepal, the tool has been implemented by 12 municipalities to identify projects based on their competitive advantage through GIZ LPED/GRAPE project since 2019 and only recently we accomplished Mini PACA in Simkot RM, Humla and Himali RM, Bajura. More PACA to happen as 711 municipalities still awaits to identify their competitiveness. https://lnkd.in/d5at2zJF

I’m honored to have led the drafting of the recent paper, Maximizing USAID’s Effectiveness: Recommendations for Improving Locally Led and Inclusive Development, for USAID’s Inclusive Development Subcommittee under the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Assistance (ACVFA).
