A paper, published in #IEREKPress, explores the significant impact of biophilic design on enhancing metacognitive thinking in early childhood within childcare centers. The study highlights how modern life, with its focus on technology and artificial environments, has distanced children from nature, which is crucial for cognitive development. This research, titled “Impact of Biophilic Design on Supporting Metacognitive Thinking in Early Childhood in Childcare Centers -A Multidisciplinary Study” underscores the importance of incorporating biophilic design elements in childcare centers, revealing that specific natural attributes can effectively support and nurture metacognitive skills in children. The findings provide a comprehensive framework and guidelines for designing spaces that foster children's cognitive development, emphasizing the value of nature-connected environments in early education settings. Education experts at the University of South Australia are calling for a national childhood workforce strategy to encourage more men into early learning and childcare professions. The call is part of the Minderoo Foundation Thrive by Five Dad’s Alliance Action Plan for the Early Years, which aims to support fathers to take a more active role in their children’s lives. Ensuring that children are cared for by healthy and positive role models – which includes both men and women – is a key part of this initiative. With the national and state focus on more accessible Early Learning for families, universal 3-year-old preschool, and the need for so many more educators to grow and support the early childhood workforce and provide support for quality teaching and learning , it is time to supercharge the ECEC workforce with a focus on increasing gender diversity: 2% is too low! https://lnkd.in/gsmrJCf7
