Digital Public Infrastructure for the start-up ecosystem?
We’ve all heard about UPI, ULI, and ONDC developed by the government. But there’s more in the works.
I had the chance to listen to Piyush Goyal at the Global Fintech Fest (yes, I was there but kept quiet about it! :p) and he dwelled on Jan Dhan (JAM Trinity), and he recently shared three initiatives that I think of as Quasi DPI:
1. New township: A 500-acre township dedicated to entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators. Think of it like Mumbai for Bollywood, but for entrepreneurs.
2. NPO: A non-profit entity, similar to Invest India, to consolidate all startup-related initiatives.
3. BHASKAR: Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry – an interactive platform connecting startups, investors, mentors, and regulatory bodies.
Another key initiative mentioned at GFF:
4. ULI: Unified Lending Interface – aimed at bridging the lending gap by offering farmers and MSMEs easy access to credit through digitized records.
On top of this, Nandan Nilekani recently noted that India’s digital public infrastructure will reach 50 countries in the next five years – it's already live in 15!
More DPI isn’t just local; it’s going global.
How do you see this changing the landscape for startups and entrepreneurs?

2moThat’s a much needed push to the winners. Looking forward to the growth of deeptech startups. Specifically who are working on hardwares such as UAV, UUV, etc.
