<<START UP STORY >> Bullet Traps for Sustainable Shooting Training Whether you are a soldier practicing marksmanship in the military or a civilian shooter, you leave bullet remnants. Usually, these remnants are not properly handled. It's an environmental problem. –There are no good answers on how to comply with existing regulations, says Elias. Authorities have turned a blind eye for a long time. The military can afford solutions, but most civilian ranges only have protective barriers, which are inflexible. Elias Mibesjö and his team have created a bullet trap to catch bullet remnants smartly and simply. Read more: #militarytraining #innovation #startup #defense #sustainability Elias Mibesjö Flexotrap

Did you know the city of Belfast was also targeted by Luftwaffe bombing raids during #WWII? The ‘Belfast Blitz’ consisted of three raids which targeted the Belfast Docks, the Short & Harland aircraft factory, and the Harland & Wolff shipyard. The first major raid occurred on the 7th – 8th April 1941. The second raid, known as the ‘Easter Tuesday Blitz’, took place on the 15th – 16th April 1941. 180No. bomber aircraft attacked Belfast with mixed loads of High Explosive (HE) and Incendiary Bombs (IBs). 55,000No. houses were damaged and disruption was caused across the city. The third and final heavy raid on #Belfast occurred on the night of the 4th – 5th May 1941, when 204No. bomber aircraft raided the city. The raid was known as the ‘Fire Raid’ due to the large number of IBs used, causing widespread fire damage. Almost 150No. Unexploded Bombs (UXB) were reported as a result of this raid. Zetica has considerable experience assessing and mitigating the hazards provided by #UXO to urban developments, including undertaking several recent projects in Belfast. (Polymath) Environmental and wildfire management planning. Prescribed burns, fire line safety and tool/equipment selection. Consultant to fire chiefs, municipalities, media outlets and journalists.
Range Trucks When fighting wildfires in the urban/forest interface, the use of range trucks has proven to be very effective. Heavily constructed, the tankers can supply water to personnel on foot, or can act as fire combat units on their own. Range units can be typical street apparatus, albeit with heavier suspensions, off-road tires and front and rear winches. They can also be military grade transports that have been seconded for civilian use, or street-watering trucks, like the ones that are used to spray the gutters and sidewalks of urban areas in the a.m. Tanker trucks will typically have rear bumper mounted pumps for auxiliary use, or mounted (rubber) hose racks and pumps at levels near the top of the units. Range trucks may also sport fire monitors/snorkels at the top of the tanks or cabs, that can be activated and controlled from the cab. When building fire resources, range trucks should figure near the top of a municipal fire department's list.

💣 Why Australian Locations Are at Significant Risk From WW2 Unexploded Bombs! 🪖 The Australian Department of Defence has raised alarm bells over the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO) from World War II Did you know 🔎: Unexploded bombs, dating back to the Second World War, have been found in forests once used for military training by the ADF and allied forces. Key Takeaways 🇦🇺: 1️⃣ Bomb Discovery: Hikers recently found an unexploded bomb in Bilwon State Forest, Queensland. This is not an isolated incident – several such discoveries have been made in various parts of Australia. 2️⃣ Risk Mapping: The Department of Defence has categorized risks across Australia into three levels – red (substantial), orange (slight), and purple (remote) – based on the likelihood of finding unexploded bombs. 3️⃣ Safety Measures: The government advises that if anyone encounters what looks like a bomb, they should not touch it and immediately contact the police for assistance. 💬 Why this is important: This situation highlights the lingering effects of past wars on present-day safety. The Australian Defence Force is actively working to make these areas safe again. 🌐 #questionforgroup: How should Australia address these historical remnants of war to ensure public safety and awareness? 🌍 Join the Conversation: significance with public safety. Optical defog is a necessary requirement for long range zoom cameras.
For telephoto visible light cameras, optical defog function has become standard. When light passes through fog, scattering occurs, making the propagation path of light unclear and creating visual blurring. Optical defog is the use of specialized filtering, coating, and image enhancement techniques in the near-infrared band to achieve the observation of targets through fog. Whether it is forest fire prevention or border and coastal defense, optical fog transmission is essential. #Telephoto #ZoomCamera #Defog #Optical #NIR #Filter #ForestFirePrevention #Coastal #Defense #Border #Security #Safety #Camera

Almost exactly 82 years ago, the first stage of Unternehmen Paukenschlag ended. Five big German U-boats had wrought havoc on allied shipping in North American waters that was still sailing independently and with lights on. For the Germans this was a second 'Happy Time' that allowed new U-boat aces to become darlings of German propaganda, for the allies it was an unmitigated disaster. And the worst was, that these hideous losses should have been preventable. The problem was that the US Navy was unwilling to institute convoys. Decried as a defensive tactic and as an inefficient use of scarce ships, it preferred to actively hunt for submarines - which quite easily managed to dodge the hunters and then stalk unescorted merchant ships with barely concealed glee. Sadly, it took time and harsh losses before Admiral King managed to admit his mistake and copy the British convoy system, which then proved its effectiveness by immediately reducing the losses to a manageable level and the sinking of U-boats. For convoys are not just a defensive measure: they allow for the concentration of force - warships and aircraft - at the point of decision - the merchant ships - and thus make defending easier while allowing for spoiling- and counterattacks. A convoy is a defensive-offensive tactic that gives close protection, allows a side to get cargo to its destination with acceptable losses and makes it possible to fight and win the attrition war. This is as true today as it was 82 years ago and is the reason why we should seriously consider sailing convoys through the Bab-el-Mandeb. Is it an inefficient use of shipping? Yes, but far less inefficient than sailing around Cape Good Hope. Defensively, it will allow us to concentrate surface escorts and - crucially - allow these escorts to use their weapons far more effectively. It is far easier to intercept a missile fired at ships under close escort than shoot at a distant crossing target and instead of an SM-6 you might get away with an ESSM - or even gunfire at relatively easy targets like UAV. Offensively, it makes it far easier to concentrate ISR resources and have strike aircraft ready for the short periods during which the convoy would be vulnerable, rather than 24/7 as ships trickle through the strait. So convoys! And fast, for this battle will be one for the long haul. The Houthi aren't as deadly as the Wolfpacks, but we still have to prevent them from getting lucky. #Houthi#OperationProsperityGuardian#RedSea
