Quality Assurance Tester @ Hearn Industrial Services | Master's in Mechanical Engineering | Ex- Mahindra Logistics | Btech in Mechanical Engineering | White Six Sigma Belt
I made a quick note of my understanding based on the quality checks I made at my workplace. In car manufacturing, lean principles help us work smarter and reduce waste. Here’s how: 1. Defects: Fixing painting errors quickly. 2. Overproduction: Making the right number of car parts at the right time. 3. Waiting: Reducing delays when waiting for parts. 4. Non-Utilised Talent: Using our worker's skills where they are needed most. 5. Transportation: Cutting down on moving car frames too much. 6. Inventory: Keeping just the right amount of car parts. 7. Motion: Making it easier for workers to get tools and parts. 8. Excess Processing: Doing just enough quality checks to meet customer needs. By focusing on these areas, we can work more efficiently, save money, and build better cars. Let’s keep improving with lean manufacturing! 💪🚀 #LeanManufacturing #AutomotiveIndustry #Efficiency #QualityControl #ContinuousImprovement

How much time do your technicians spend reviewing new models/vehicle technology in preparation for those cars landing in your shop? I find far too often, we are just reacting to what comes through our doors, and technicians are left to learn "live" on a customer's vehicle. We are always going to be behind the OEM with how fast they move and make changes, but that doesn't mean we should wait for the car to show up and then figure it out. Training doesn't stop when you leave the class at the training center. I recently have started carving out 30-45 minutes once a month to review BMW's Techipedia during shop time. There's plenty of material to review whether it's body construction of a new model, videos on making adjustments, or a refresher on previous training material from TIS. Today's technicians are visual learners, and as leaders, we must cater to their learning style to ensure a safe and proper repair. #collisionrepair #bodyshop #bmwgroup
