Master student - science of water resources in UAEU - Certified maintenance & reliability professional ( CMRP ) Operation and Maintenance Engineer @ Metito | Water and Wastewater Treatment Solutions {RO,MBR,SBR…
In the ever-evolving landscape of water treatment technologies, a pioneering breakthrough has emerged in the form of a cutting-edge approach to Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems. Introducing the Pulse Flow Reverse Osmosis System (PFRO), a revolutionary technology designed to operate RO units with dynamic pressure and adjustable recovery rates. Unlike traditional fixed-pressure systems, the PFRO system incorporates a flexible and adaptive approach, strategically engineered to mitigate the risks associated with biofouling and scaling. The PFRO system introduces a dynamic operational paradigm, allowing for real-time adjustments in pressure and recovery rates based on the unique demands of the water treatment process. This innovative flexibility not only enhances system efficiency but also serves as a formidable defence against the challenges posed by biofouling and scaling. By dynamically altering operational parameters, the PFRO system disrupts the conditions conducive to the formation of unwanted biological films and mineral deposits, thereby significantly reducing the probability of performance degradation and maintenance issues. Incorporating state-of-the-art technology, the PFRO system represents a paradigm shift in the realm of RO water treatment, offering a dynamic and responsive solution to address the industry's ongoing challenges. With its ability to adapt to changing conditions, this groundbreaking technology sets a new standard for reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in reverse osmosis systems. Unlike the steady and unyielding nature of traditional fixed-pressure systems, the PFRO grooves to the rhythm of adaptability. Think of it as your water treatment system's jazz solo – always changing, always responsive. This dynamic approach isn't just about impressing with its moves; it's a strategic defence against the unwanted guests of biofouling and scaling. Various innovative technologies are currently being explored to enhance the recovery of reverse osmosis (RO) systems, each offering unique approaches and potential advancements. Among these pioneering methods are multistage systems, timed operational modes such as Pulse Flow RO, and strategies aimed at reducing the osmotic pressure gradient, among others. A comprehensive discussion on these diverse technologies will be presented subsequently. For a detailed exploration of the Pulse Flow Reverse Osmosis System (PFRO), which serves as an illustrative example of an RO system operated in timed mode, kindly refer to the following link for more in-depth information:

Asset management in the water industry 💧 We are pleased to announce our cooperation with enwor - energie & wasser vor ort GmbH and what we have jointly realised so far: In close collaboration, we have developed a methodology for data-based analysis of the water transport network in enwor's supply area. With a fully digital approach and using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, we have analysed the most important influences on pipe damage and developed a forecast of the probability of failure of the individual pipe sections. This approach enables predictive maintenance of the pipes and ensures both cost efficiency and sustainable utilisation of resources. We are delighted to have laid this foundation together with enwor and to have provided another example of the benefits of sustainable innovations. Excited how it continues! #dfine #dfineImpact #dfineInternational #WaterInfrastructure #MachineLearning #PredictiveMaintenance #Sustainability

Initial results on the first Municipal Flow Reversal Reverse Osmosis system in the US.
Great article published this month in Desalination Magazine, analyzing the results of the pilot that ran in Santa Monica's Arcadia Water Treatment Plant with ROTEC's FRRO (flow reversal reverse osmosis). The article was written by Prof. Mingheng Li, Alex Waite, P.E., Sunny Wang. From the Abstract: "It is shown that periodic block rotation and feed flow reversal balance salt and foulant load and mitigate scaling formation, enabling a 90 % recovery with a typical CIP interval over 30 days." Entrepreneurial creative specialising in water, circular economy & climate-tech | Founder | Journalist | Video storyteller | Podcaster | Speaker & Moderator
A #ThrowbackThursday to 2016 and the industry's first 360-degree video tour. We were invited by IDE Technologies to produce a video of the Sorek desalination plant in Israel - at the time, one of the world's biggest seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants providing water for 3.8 million people. One of the innovations was mounting 16" membrane elements vertically, improving investment, efficiency and footprint (I wrote about this earlier in 2013 - 'Sorek Stands Tall', WaterWorld Magazine https://shorturl.at/imBEM). Great insight from Graeme Pearce, as always. While today 360° camera technology is much better and more common; seven years ago it was new. We had to figure it out as we went through trial and error. The result was worth it. Now clocking over 121,000 views, the YouTube version allows you to drag left to right on the video to see different elements of the facility. We're increasing our video storytelling capabilities across the many channels - get in touch if you need creative support. #water #waterscarcity #ClimateChange #innovation #desalination #Israel #video #videostorytelling #content https://lnkd.in/epFfc9i3

𝗔𝗦𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼-𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 The Geo‑Chiller™ saves on natural gas in full-service restaurants. Earlier, ASR (Applied Scientific Research Inc) equipped the unit in a restaurant that can pre-heat the hot water to 6 F degrees, and blow air out of the unit, about 22 F degrees, using a fan powered by a 1/4 HP motor. ASR discovered that the motor costs too much energy to operate their system. Thus, they replaced the motor with a hydro-turbine to save energy. The Patent was issued on May 17th, 2022, and the claims are very strong and broad, covering this system. Currently, ASR is offering Equity in the patent and is seeking a business partner to develop the Geo-Chiller. [US.
