Military leader. Space enterprise expert. Multi-domain warfighter. Guardian. (Views are my own) #OnGuard!
The “Space Spine” - An Unbreakable (unbeatable) Backbone. Contrary to the mega-shopping in the exhibition halls, the 39th Space Symposium offered much more than supersized swag bags of samples. More lasting and long-lived than the sessions and socials, a fellowship was fused together and fine-tuned as the domain’s Senior Enlisted Warfighters broke through the geo-boundaries of alliance and beyond the politics of partners. We are fast becoming the foundation of a first-element formation, and the strength and sinew of National Security Space … collectively more connected, coordinated, committed to cooperation, and in cadence. Our “mind-melding” in the mastery of multinational/multilateral military operations was truly more meaningful than the many-many meetings, especially as we work together to exponentially mold and mature the joint and coalition forces to be credible and conditioned for great power competition, crisis, or conflict. At no time in the history of the world has the combined cognitive capability of the enlisted force been more determining of our delta and destiny. #SpaceSpine #AsymmetricAstrographicAdvantage #OnGuard

Brand new 'all space' special issue of AETHER (Air University Press) is out today. This issue is the result of the last 18 months of work by the US Space Command Strategic Innovation Group (SIG) and directed space PME outreach. USSC generated space topics for research, and students from across the DoD and USG from field grade to war college level submitted articles focused on selected space topics. This issue leads with a forward by General Dickinson, and the featured article is by the former Deputy Commander LTG(ret) Shaw and his research team on 'Dynamic Space Operations' or DSO. The digital PDF is available at the link below, and AETHER is shipping out special hard copies in early January across DoD, military institutions, NCR, and more. We will get 1,000 hard copies at the USSC for distribution also. https://lnkd.in/gV9ZPcEC #space #technology #defense #education #leadership #innovation #security #spaceforce #industry #academicresearch #research #defense #NATO #army #airforce #marines #socom #navy #specialoperations #airpower #spacepower

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024 with SGIS. We predict that this year will see lots of space based activities, both military and commercial. The optimal integration of these two will provide information advantage. Industry experts from SGIS will ensure that the commercial technologies are fully understood and exploited where practical to enhance the defence of the UK and our Allies. A recent article from the US Naval Institute states: "Commercial space assets, however, can help fill gaps and provide redundancy. This new space organizational structure is designed to take advantage of the capacity and capability of commercial space. As in many areas, commercial advances in space technology are moving faster than DoD technology, especially in communication and space domain awareness." See below for the full article.. How do we tailor activities across instruments of power for space deterrence? Deterrence and Space Strategy A Framework from the Study of History and Theory A Schriever Student Research Paper This paper studied the historiography of deterrence, United States deterrence policies (1950 to 1962), the historiography of the militarization of space (1940s to 1990s), and the evolution of space strategic principles for insights that built a space deterrence framework for strategists and policy makers. Take a look at the authors study of the diplomatic, information, Military and economic Space Deterrence frameworks in an exploration of military space systems, mutual deterrence and maritime space warfare perspectives. This is Space Force Junior ROTC The Cadet Guardian Commitment #7 Join with the #CadetGuardians in the nation's ONLY Title 10 U.S. Code-mandated, youth program with a #space-focus as they recite their "Cadet Guardian Commitment." It continues ... "... I will master myself, grow in knowledge and wisdom ..." The unique "Cadet Guardian Commitment" reflects how they embrace the #GuardianValues that are shared in the U.S. Space Force's "Guardian Commitment." The third Guardian Value is "Commitment to Mastery". These core values are the flight plan for becoming #citizens of #character while living lives of meaning and purpose. The #SFJROTC enterprise is managed by the Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of the United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13 Detachment 2. Photograph from the video of the visit of the 527th Space Aggressor Squadron to the unit at Falcon High School in Colorado Springs. As a Title 10 program, the Space Force Junior ROTC enterprise, like its Air Force managers, cannot endorse any other private organization without express legal permissions from national authority.

Going from oversimplified models found in 100% of military doctrine to some geometrically unorthodox alternatives: considering the Mobius strip and the Klein bottle. Why? To bring forth new theorization, we must also critically examine our core models (cubes, triads, loops, spheres, arrows leading to a single desired end-state, etc.) and shake things up by challenging those otherwise unquestioned assumptions on how to understand complex warfare. I apply this to the 'Space-SOF-Cyber' construct in this article now available at the USMC's Journal of Advanced Military Studies (JAMS): https://lnkd.in/gGk_pP6j #design #innovation #mathematics #technology #strategy #complexity #change #ai #artificialintelligence #humanmachineteaming #marine #USMC #navy #airforce #socom #sof #specialoperations #cyber #cyberspace #space #spaceforce #leadership #planning #NATO #war

This is Space Force Junior ROTC... "Character Above All" The four #GuardianValues of the United States Space Force serve as one of the guides for #SFJROTC to launch citizens of character with a space vision. The four values are #Character, #Connection, #Commitment, and #Courage. According to the publication Guardian Spirit: Space Force Handbook 1-1, character is the first value because the others can only exist in an environment of character. The text goes on to amplify how to live the value by saying, "We will embrace the virtues of integrity, grit, honesty, authenticity, and trustworthiness. We will remain fully accountable for our decisions, actions, and inactions." The ten units of Space Force JROTC are located in high schools around the United States. They are led by Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) with the support of U.S. Space Force Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2 at Maxwell AFB.

Humbled to share that the research Alex Bresler and I published through Naval Postgraduate School last year was cited in the final report from the Commission on Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution Reform (PPBE): https://lnkd.in/eJFAc9BU We are not academics, so our papers are not academic exercises. Rather, we leverage large-scale, publicly available data to assess fundamental questions about how the United States Department of Defense spends money, and with whom--and, as objectively as possible, the extent to which these realities align with the stated purpose of various programs, and with the pressing needs of our times. When the data uncovers a misalignment, we propose actionable recommendations. Motivated by a desire to ensure the strength and superiority of the U.S. military, we've worked hard to promote these ideas/recommendations to key decision makers over the years. We're glad our work proved valuable to the Commission, and we look forward to seeing the new "Defense Resourcing Initiative" unfold.
