Let's talk about the missing piece... In the insurance claims industry, there's a key piece of the puzzle... I think we can all agree... The lack of proper training in the industry is an elephant in the room that we can’t ignore. Newer adjusters are often left to figure things out on their own, leading to frustration and inefficiency. What we need is real, hands-on training that prepares adjusters for the day-to-day challenges of the job. Without it, we’re setting ourselves up for failure. If you’re feeling lost, don’t be afraid to ask for guidance or seek out additional training opportunities on your own. And if you’re experienced? Consider mentoring a newer adjuster. Yesterday I passed Unit IF1 (Insurance, Legal and Regulatory) exam, my first step towards obtaining the CII Certificate of Insurance. Chuffed to nuts with my 93% mark, I set an internal goal in my head to achieve at least 90%. Probably won’t do that for the next one 😂 but the studying paid off! I am very lucky to work at Ecclesiastical Insurance UK which promotes professional development and technical excellence. I didn’t have to ask, my line manager encouraged me to start the process for obtaining the CII Certificate in Insurance. It is not a legal exam, it’s an insurance exam. This is so important for me as an individual that wants to be challenged and developed in my work rather than just offering a skill set that is static. We must always remember that employment is a 2-way relationship. It is fundamental for a lawyer to understand the environment they’re working in, not just the law and regulation. I won’t be in a hurry to start the next one, Christmas mania first 🎅🏻🎁

*** Insurance September Qualifiers *** Over the last month we have had insightful conversations with many trainees across the UK who are keen to qualify into insurance with their current firm. It’s been a real surprise to hear how few roles there are for those qualifying in September. Historically, we have seen an increase in NQ roles towards the end of July and into August as internal offers are made. However, this year has defied the usual trends with fewer private practice moves at the junior level.   This seems to be a similar trend for those about to qualify, but we remain optimistic that firms will be in a strong position to support their own intake and also consider lateral recruits. Another great learning session with Ah Bah, one of the master practitioners in the insurance industry. He made me understand the spirit of the law of certain tools and execution that need to be implemented for our new agents. It was truly a fruitful session for me.

10,807 views and 90 comments I posted a message about how the insurance industry has lost its way in representing the consumers best interest since its founding. Industry “professionals “ piled on and criticized my comments. They even went so far as to belittle my professional licenses I’ve attained over the last 20 years in the #insurance and #legal community. One comment was that I received my license from a Cracker Jack box. Let me break this down - #attorneys practice law- they enter a specific practice area and attempt to become disciplined in that area #Accountant practice accounting. Some do tax, some audits , some forensic etc #doctors practice medicine. They find an area and specialize on it. Why are these 3 professionals praticing specific areas? Because their fields are deep and wide. Complicated. Now comes the #insurance agent/broker Pass a test, attain a license and you can now insurance any of those professional’s business above after day one of receiving the license. The industry absolutely loves having uneducated people attempting to insure professionals with little to no knowledge. The reality is a seasoned, deep bench knowledge insurance veteran has an enormous amount to learn. Given most new agents do not make it past year two should be proof the insurance industry doesn’t want educated agents selling to educated consumers. With over 900,000 agents one would think the industry would be concerned about the professinal side of the business. Alas, that’s not the case……another place the industry has lost its way.
