🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I'm thrilled to announce that I've recently completed my externship with Extern in Venture Capital, where I had the incredible opportunity to work with the dynamic team at Energy Innovation Capital.🌟 I immersed myself in the world of Venture Capital, gaining invaluable skills and experiences that have shaped my professional &entrepreneurial journey in profound ways. 💼 Here are some key highlights from my externship: 🔍 Due Diligence: Conducting thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities and peer-reviewing my colleagues has taught me the importance of meticulous research and analysis. It's not just about identifying opportunities – it's about understanding intricacies, seeing through, and mitigating risks. 📊 Market Analysis: Analyzing market trends and dynamics has honed my strategic thinking and decision-making abilities. Understanding market landscapes is crucial for any entrepreneur looking to carve out a niche and disrupt industries while paying attention to possible future market disruptions on whose waves one can take advantage to soar. 📈 Pitch Deck Analysis: Evaluating pitch decks for VCs has given me a deeper understanding of what makes a compelling start-up and how to communicate value propositions effectively. Crafting a compelling narrative is key to capturing the attention of investors and stakeholders. 💡 Investment Summary Creation: Creating investment summaries has sharpened my ability to distill complex information into clear and concise formats. Communicating the essence of an opportunity succinctly is essential for driving buy-in and securing investments. These skills are not just important to me as a professional – they're integral toolbox assets in my entrepreneurial journey. As I embark on my own endeavors, I'm excited to leverage these skills to identify opportunities, drive innovation, and create value in the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship. A big shoutout to Christie Andersen and the entire Extern group for the mentorship and support I received during my externship, and I look forward to applying what I have learned as I continue to pursue my passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. #Entrepreneurship #VentureCapital #Innovation #Externship #Gratitude #NextChapter

I think this is something really good to ask in Africa at the moment. I am currently looking into ways (with research and connecting) to get a whole list of needs from companies in SA answered and something that will benefit everyone. Connecting the world (Government, Companies and People) is the solution. How to get there in South Africa at the moment need a bit of leading. But, keep up, we will get there. We Learn, Adapt and Teach others. Thank you so much for sharing: Please share any new ways or information regarding the above so we can also help each other grow. #learning #ey #finances #africanentrepreneurs #africantech #linkedinconnections #linkedinlearning #linkedingrowth #growthmindset #leadershipdevelopment #corporateventurebuilding
Corporate Venture Building I have done a lot of research about different approaches to corporate venture building and toward the end of 2023, I came across an approach that I gravitate towards. I lean towards Samuel Hall's approach (See interview in the comment section, 22min long) In South Africa, I have seen corporates trying different models, such as creating an entity that will invest in early-stage startups, see #Next176 from #OldMutual and we have quite a number of these. Also seen retail companies empowering their employees to bring ideas that will grow the firm, spoke to a few of them but not certain how they do it and their success stories. I also spoke to countless individuals from Consulting companies like your #EY, etc, as well as other individuals in other industries, they have insane ideas that will change the game. However, some people will never go the Entrepreneurial route for obvious reasons 😁, and in some incidents, you find IP disputes..... e.g. ("Please Call Me") case. I believe that the BIG CONSULTING companies (#Accenture, #Deloitte, #Altron, #PwC, #EY, etc) can build a successful venture portfolio of Startups on the Corporate Venture Building approach. These are the types of discussions and collaborations I am keen to work on. #CorporateVentureBuilding
