Happy Birthday to us! This week marks the eighth year anniversary of our first published episode. We have, thankfully, come a long way and improved every facet of the show. We must be doing something right as our numbers continue to keep climbing. Anyway, on with this week's News Show. We start with the PM's announcement that he is pushing the internal combustion engine only ban back to 2035. Unfortunately, so much reporting on this was, let's be polite, "poor". We straighten out what it means and what it doesn't. Related, is the fact that the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate will remain, although we STILL do not know that that entails and can only guess. No need to worry though, there's still 90-odd days until it comes into force 🙄 . The Government are keeping the stick to beat the car industry with, but making it harder for them. France is altering the criteria of the eligibility for their EV subsidy. They claim they are focusing on the environmental impact of making the car too, in their calculations. The fact that China made cars will suddenly not be able to get financial aid is purely a coincidence. And they said that with a straight face. Edinburgh Airport is installing 40 new EV charge points, to their car parks. These will be a mix of 7 and 22 kWh chargers. More of this please! In New New Car News we talk about the revamped Audi Q4 eTron, for 2024. Much improvement to elements under the skin should mean for a better car. Prices are yet to be announced.
