According to McKinsey research, hydrogen could play a central role in helping the world reach net zero emissions by 2050. In 2050, clean hydrogen could help abate seven gigatons of CO2 emissions annually, which is about 20 percent of annual global emissions. Complementing other technologies, such as renewables and biofuels, hydrogen has the potential to decarbonise many industries, including long-haul ground mobility, maritime shipping and aviation, refining and steel. We can accelerate the hydrogen opportunity, to realise its decarbonisation potential and the growth opportunity for businesses. and progress will likely require collaboration among policy makers, industries and investors. Delighted to have witnessed the signing of the MOU between Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) and Tower Capital Asia’s portfolio company Poh Tiong Choon Logistics Ltd. Great article on the rise of liquid green hydrogen! It's exciting to see how this clean and versatile fuel source is gaining traction across various industries. The launch of Plug Power's new liquid green hydrogen plant in Georgia is a significant step towards building a vertically integrated green hydrogen ecosystem. Additionally, ZeroAvia's plans to develop a liquid hydrogen refueling truck for heavy-duty use, including aviation, and Daimler Truck's exploration of importing liquid hydrogen from Abu Dhabi show the potential for widespread adoption of this technology. The collaboration between GM and Honda in volume production of fuel cell systems further highlights the progress being made in the industry. In 2024, we’re ready for hydrogen, a collective energy! Today, with TotalEnergies, we are officially launching our TEAL Mobility joint venture; it will significantly accelerate the development of hydrogen mobility in Europe. This partnership illustrates just how much bringing together industrial actors can contribute to society, particularly when it comes to an issue as important and urgent as the energy transition. When we say that we’re ready, what do we mean? 👉 It’s about more than intentions and declarations: it means being hands on, taking action and making things happen. In 2024, TEAL Mobility will operate twenty stations in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Within 10 years, its network will grow to 100 stations. 👉 It means working as a team to support the development of an entire industry, from truck manufacturers to transport operators. 👉 It means thinking about hydrogen mobility on a continental scale, rather than a national one, given the true needs of freight transport. 👉 It means combining our different areas of expertise: Air Liquide has 60 years of unique hydrogen expertise, while TotalEnergies is an expert in the operation and management of station networks and energy distribution. 👏 We are happy to share that our project H2ME2 - Hydrogen Mobility Europe 2 was successfully concluded! 💡 Building upon the expertise gained from the predecessor project H2ME1, H2ME2 that involved more than 50 organisations at the forefront of the sector significantly contributed to the technical and commercial readiness of vehicles, fuelling stations and hydrogen production techniques. The project has supported 49 hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) and >1,400 Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), up to a third of all HRS & FCEVs deployed in Europe to date. 🎤 "I am extremely pleased to see that through our funding H2ME was able to create the first pan-European hydrogen network and the largest network of H2 refuelling stations in the world. Building on the collaboration of an impressive number of actors, ranging from vehicle OEMs, refuelling infrastructure providers, fuel retailers, and national/regional authorities the flagship projects H2ME and H2ME2 proved the technical maturity of hydrogen vehicles over the past 10 years, offering some encouraging learnings on how to overcome existing barriers to its full commercialisation.”, said our Executive Director ad interim Mirela Atanasiu. What is TEAL Mobility? 🤔 In January of this year, Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have made it official the creation of TEAL Mobility, an equally owned joint venture to develop a network of hydrogen stations, geared towards heavy duty vehicles on major European road corridors. How do both companies contribute? 🤝 TotalEnergies brings its expertise in the operation and management of stations networks and the distribution of energies to BtoB customers while Air Liquide contributes with its expertise in technologies and its mastery of the entire hydrogen value chain. What does TEAL Mobility do? 🚛 At TEAL Mobility, they share the conviction that hydrogen is a formidable energy vector to meet the challenges of road transport and an essential element in achieving carbon neutrality rapidly. How does TEAL Mobility do it? 🤷♀️ 👉 They invest, construct, and operate stations to distribute hydrogen to customers in Europe. Our goal is to deploy more than 100 hydrogen stations for heavy duty vehicles on major European road corridors over the next 10 years.
