The #Commission is moving on with the implementation of the #DMA - today it has opened a consultation on the draft template for the description of #consumer #profiling #techniques, which #gatekeepers are obliged to submit. The draft template specifies the minimum #information that the #Commission expects #gatekeepers to provide to enhance #transparency and #accountability of their #profiling #techniques. ICYMI: My latest piece is about the companies trading your most intimate personal information, regardless of what you, your doctor or the Privacy Act say about it: https://lnkd.in/dkD3Xm_w Despite the supposed protection of our privacy laws, we have been sliced and diced into marketing categories down to a disturbing level of detail, from ‘Tradies’ (small businesses registered at a home address, matched with ‘devices seen at Bunnings’) to ‘Cardiologist visitors’ (people whose phones have been in a cardiologist’s offices, matched with their online ‘content consumption’). It is time for Privacy Act reform, AND better enforcement of the existing law.

The European Commission has published its template for reporting on profiling activities by Gatekeepers under the DMA: For each core platform service a Gatekeeper has to provide a detailed description of all the consumer profiling techniques applied within the core platform service and across multiple core platform services, such as (a) the specific purpose(s) pursued by each profiling technique(s); (b) a description of each category of personal data and data derived from user activity; (c) a description of each category of personal data and data originating from third parties; (d) a detailed description of the inferred data about consumers; and 15 other categories. https://lnkd.in/e6sWBV4q
